Raisin in Th Sun

“Life for me aint no crystal stair”( Harlem by Langston Hughes) this is the theme throughout the story. Everyone’s dreams were pushed aside of put back for the greater good of the family, or for some outside obstacle they had to overcome. This poem shows the real meaning of the play because it showed the internal and external struggles each one of the characters had. First, a raisin in the sun is about the struggle through tough times and racism, people’s transformations, and following your dreams even when things are difficult. Like the poem mother to son, it tells of the struggles of life and how although it may not always be easy you just have to keep pushing and keep moving on. ”life for me aint been n crystal stair. It has tacks in it, and splinters, and boards torn up” (mother to son by Langston Hughes) this quote really helps to give you insight into what is going on with the younger family. Each one of them has their own story, their own struggles, and their own setbacks. For their dreams, Beneatha dreams of being a doctor, but her dream gets put aside because Walter loses the money. What this poem is essentially saying is that things aren’t always easy, but no matter what you have o keep pushing on and keep moving forward. Next, the poem Harlem does relate but Mother to so relates better. Harlem describes how peoples dreams can dry up an go away and never happen. This is relevant but in the end not all of their dreams stop. For example, mamma finally gets to move to a new house and a new neighborhood where she can garden and watch her grandchildren grow up and make a better life for all of them. Although it is not what he originally wanted, Walter finally figures house what the true purpose of life as, and how to be successful and happy. “what happens to a dream differed?
