Occasional arguments are good for friendships because it helps you understand each other better, it gives you the freedom to express and it shows where you stand on ideas and beliefs. Understanding each other includes seeing the full picture from time to time and actually setting yourself and your feelings aside for someone else. Next, is the freedom of expression you have to determine yourself worth which isn’t always easy. This is where the arguments come in, you will be more appreciated if you freely express yourself. Lastly, where you stand on ideas and beliefs, you may agree with each other or you might disagree with each other. If you disagree with each other that most likely will cause an argument between…

According to the ‘Facts about Bullying’, “…one in seven students is either a bully or victim. About 56% of students have personally witnessed some type of bullying at school, 15% of all school absenteeism is directly related to fears of being bullied at school, 71% of students report incidents of bullying as a problem at their school. One out of 20 students has seen a student with a gun at school” (Borba, 1999). Bullying can be linked to several violent acts that have occurred in many schools across the country. Bullying is also being blamed for violent acts in institutions of higher learning i.e. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Bullying includes a wide variety of behaviors, but all involve a person or a group repeatedly trying to harm someone who is perceived to be weaker or more vulnerable. It can involve direct attacks (physical harm, intimidation, theft etc.) or more subtle, indirect attacks (such as spreading rumors or encouraging others to reject or exclude someone) (SafeYouth, n.d.). The newest form of harassment being used on today’s youth comes in the form of…

Secondly, to maintain a friendship is much more difficult than making friends. There are different reasons for that. Initially, nomatter how similar you and your friend are, there are still a lot differences between you two because everyone is unique, therefore their characreristics are distinguished. These differences will lead to misunderstanding and sometime argument. The next reason is that people do not have enough time with their friends which make them become strangers day by day. Despite our profound understanding about each other, my best friend and I have different taste about movie. While I love horror movies, she is terrified of these ones. The human survival is based on friendship. From the highest authority to the lowest bums living on the streets all of them have experienced in some way or the other one of these different kinds of friendships. We take this friendship for granted because it is something that exists naturally in society and most of us never really have to actually go out into the world looking for a friend. Those of us who have had to live in a foreign country or in new surroundings have learned how important this is in life. My personal realization came when I had to start college in a new country, in different surroundings. The feeling of loneliness is enough to drive a person to near madness. So in conclusion what I'm trying to say is that we cannot thrive successfully as individuals or as a society without having some form of friendship with other individuals. As children we depend on our parents and see them as our only friends. Life goes on to the next level and we now make friends with people of our own sex because girls are ‘weird'. Then comes the next stage in life, a sheer fascination with this ‘weird' species that will rule us until a perfectly weird individual comes along. So life can be summarized in these three statements. It was a great man, Mark Twain, who once said, "Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of joy you must have somebody to divide it with."…
