CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

Many people considered shoe polisher as a part of their daily lives. Shoe polisher is a thing that uses to clean and shine your shoes. There are times that we forget to polish our shoes. If you don’t want to buy any brand of shoe polisher, you can now make your own in your house.

BACKROUND OF THE STUDY

Shoe polisher is essential in our lives. It’s been a great help in the daily lives of human today. Shoe polisher is a substance use to polish shoes. It is use to make the shoes smooth and shiny by rubbing it. Some of us buy a shoe polisher in the store. By becoming aware of this fact, many of us can’t buy shoe polisher because their house is far away from the store. By realizing this, I decided to conduct a product to help those who spend a lot of time just to buy a shoe polisher and those who cannot afford it. In additional, is to have knowledge on how to make shoe polisher in home.

Our country is rich in natural resources. Resources is the things which are use to produce goods and services that satisfy the needs of man. Almost 50 percent of our land belongs to forest land. In forest land, we can find trees that use to produce charcoal. Charcoal is a black form of carbon made by burning woods slowly.

I would want to introduce charcoals as another source of shoe polisher. I also want to encourage other people to do things by themselves. By doing this the people will become more confident to their self and will not be dependent.

I chose charcoal to be the main ingredient because it is easily to find and affordable. Since trees are abundant in Philippines because of its forest land, it is easier to conduct this study by means of availability.

A seed is a fertilized ovule that contains an embryo and transforms it into a new plant through the process of germination. Seeds remain inactive until conditions are right for germination. All seeds need water, oxygen, and proper temperature in order to germinate. However, some seeds require full light or darkness to germinate. According to Holm (1996) seeds have chemical inhibitors that prevent germination. A seed will not grow unless those inhibitors are destroyed by things like temperature changes, moisture, and sunlight. These conditions combine in infinite ways, making each plant's germination needs different. The first sign of germination is when the seed absorbs the water. Water and oxygen are taken in through the seed coat causing the embryo's cells to enlarge. The seed coat breaks open and a root emerges first, followed by the shoot or plumule that contains the leaves and stem (Campbell 2004).…

I had a bit of writer’s block when beginning this writing assignment. I knew what I wanted to say, just not how to say it. I thought I should find out exactly what our natural resources were, in order to effectively answer the questions presented to me. The definition of a natural resource is: any resource that is supplied by nature. Some of the resources we get from nature are: water, minerals, coal, oil, gas, living things, and the land itself. Other important resources that I think should also be considered are resources that are obtained from animals. We get milk, eggs, meat, fish, skin/hide, all of which are needed to be able to survive. Our responsibility is to these resources, because they keep us alive. We should never take them for granted because although they most of the time are in abundance they are not in an infinite supply. We should use as much of these resources as needed to survive, but replacing them when ever at all possible. Our responsibility is to make sure we never run out of these resources, to make sure we are constantly doing our part to find alternative to these resources – so we do not exhaust our supply. I do very much agree with our book that “the word resources does imply something to be used, yet how far do we go?...” Keep in mind, I don’t think they are saying that they are infinite resources, so to me the word resources doesn’t mean something we’ll have forever.…

Conditional independence graphs are proposed for describing the dependence structure of multivariate nonlinear time series, which extend the graphical modeling approach based on partial correlation. The vertexes represent the components of a multivariate time series and edges denote direct dependence between corresponding series. The conditional independence relations between component series are tested efficiently and consistently using conditional mutual information statistics and a bootstrap procedure. Furthermore, a method combining information theory with surrogate data is applied to test the linearity of the conditional dependence. The efficiency of the methods is approved through simulation time series with different linear and nonlinear dependence relations. Finally, we show how the method can be applied to international financial markets to investigate the nonlinear independence structure. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.…
