Hello and welcome to my portfolio. First, let me say it is an honor and a privilege to attend the University of Charleston the home of the Golden Eagles maroon red and gold and to have this opportunity to further my education as a Radiologic Technician. I chose the University of Charleston because they have the best completion rate and hands on degrees in the state of West Virginia. I am overwhelmed to be accepted to such a prestigious university. This university is so polite and understanding with different situations. I am excited to start my journey here at the university in the beautiful state of West Virginia. My full name is Hollie Renee McCoy and this is my portfolio. For my future degree, I have decided to be a Radiologic Technician, for the people that does not know what a radiologic technician is, it is a person that performs diagnostic imaging examinations, such as X rays, on patients. They take images of your body to see if you have any broken or fracture bones. The x-rays will show if your body is in good condition. Everyone has different jobs in this part of the medical field. There are various names for this type of work, but you are referred to as a Radiologic Technology. That is why I chose the medical field because I have a complete passion in wanting to help people. In the medical field, everyone plays a part, for example, a patient brakes his or her leg that is when the Radiologic Technician comes into play to assist the patient. The Radiologic Technician takes the x-rays then delivers the documents to the radiologist so he or she can read them. Then they deliver the documents to the medical doctor, and nurses to do the procedure if

    I remember the day I called my Dad crying to tell him the wonderful news. I told him that “I have been accepted into the rigorous Radiology program and opportunities like that do not typically happen to me”. At that moment, I felt like I could achieve anything. After graduating the program, my confidence continued to grow. I obtained my first job straight out of College at OrthoIndy as the only working Technologist in this particular clinic which was a huge challenge for a new graduate.
