Cancer treatment with radiation I am for the use of radiation because it can be used in many good ways. My sub group is medicine. I am researching a radiation treatment used for helping cancer patients. This is a good use of radiation because it kills the cancer cells and may even cure the cancer. It doesn't always cure it but it will slow the process down.
One reason radiation therapy is used, is to destroy the cancer cells. It is also for shrinking tumors. Tumors are mostly cured by the radiation. It can also just get rid of certain cancer symptoms. These are the things that radiation can cure.
It destroys the cancer cells by attacking the genes. Genes are how cells grow and divide. When the radiation attacks the cancer genes, it does not allow the cancer to grow and may even cause it to die off. According to the National Cancer Institute, 80 percent of cancer patients that received radiation treatment have been cured or have had an increase in their life span. This is why radiation is a good thing and should be used.
If the cancer is bad enough the patient will lay fully under the matching or if it is just in a certain area they can move it to the needed area. Materials can also be put inside the body to shrink tumors and cancer cells. This is more risky but more efficient. This is how people get the radiation treatment.
