“Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome”- Rosa Parks. This quote means that racism is always going to be in the world so you are just going to have to overcome it and get ready to deal with it. Children are going to have to prepare for it because it will affect them too. It is still happening today. I believe racism in To Kill A Mocking Bird should not be Important in society because skin color does not matter it is similar to cases now a days like the Trayvon Martin case.

A black male individual was profiled because of his skin color. He was followed because he was black, walking in a hoodie at night. The police told George Zimmerman to let them handle it, but he did not listen. Instead, he followed him and Trayvon Martin ended up getting shot and killed because Zimmerman was prejudice and assumed he was breaking the law( from CNN news). Trayvon Martin really died for no reason.
The story of Trayvon Martin is similar to Tom Robison. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Tom Robison was accused of rape. Mayella accused Tom Robison because he was a black individual. She was In trouble because she had a black person over. They believed Mayella over Tom because she was white and he was black. They had proved he couldn’t hit her because he had a deformed arm. This case was racist and based on a true story.
