I think the racism in the UNCHAINED MEMORIES: Readings from the Slave Narratives illustrated very well for many people. It does a great job showing it back then and still today how different The North and The South are still today. Even still today, The Second Confederate Navy battle flag or Dixie flag (which is not the Flag of the Confederate States of America), which is the one we see the most, still enforces slavery to some individuals, with hate, fear, and past events. Still today as it was back then, some white individuals at still felt inferior towards black

    In this respect, the film remains remarkably unbiased. Not completely unbiased, however, as the film skirts around the slavery issue and almost eliminates it entirely. I believe it was necessary in maintaining, in a sense, the purity of the film by allowing a Confederate to remain completely the protagonist.     During the time of Nat Turner, the same way that whites southerners had convinced themselves that slavery was a good thing because they were civilizing Africans is the same way that following Reconstruction that southern Americans convinced themselves and in a sense rewrote their states’ history to make it seem as if not only was the Civil War not about slavery but that those who were once seen as traitors to the republic were actually heroes who had “risen up to fight against a tyrannical federal government” that was infringing on state rights.     Even though Frederick Douglass was a son of a white slave-owner, but because his mother was a slave he was born a slave. This was normal in this era.
