Racism is usually defined as views, practices and actions reflecting the belief that humanity is divided into distinct biological groups called races and that members of a certain race share certain attributes which make that group as a whole less desirable, more desirable, inferior, or superior.
Racism has existed throughout human history. It may be defined as the hatred of one person by another -- or the belief that another person is less than human -- because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person. It has influenced wars, slavery, the formation of nations, and legal codes. It is also a predication of decisions and policies on considerations of race for the purpose of subordinating a racial group and maintaining control over that group. Racism is the lowest, most crudely primitive form of collectivism. It is the notion of ascribing moral, social or political significance to a man 's genetic lineage -- the notion that a man 's intellectual and character logical traits are produced and transmitted by his internal body chemistry, Which means, in practice, that a man is to be judged, not by his own character and actions, but by the characters and actions of a collective of ancestors. Racism has a deep rooted history among humans, being practiced and recorded as early as Biblical days. Throughout every single major society, from the Roman Empire , has practiced racism through de facto and de jure. It is quite common to believe that one 's own culture often thought of as a "race" due to physical similarities is different from other cultures. Throughout our history of humans, we have used the excuse of "race" to enslave people based on traits that we ourselves might even have.
