Racism Effects on People “Racism is something that people can transcend through friendship” Vincent F. Rocchio. People make fun of other people’s accents or names in schools. Racism is a word that means a lot of things to many people. There should be no Blacks, no Asians, and no Hispanics; there is only one race, and that race is HUMAN, no matter what our color or physical features may be. It is important for people to know about cultural differences and how to have respect for other people’s races. Racism still exists and can cause physical and mental harm. To More importantly, racism still exists around today. Even though, we may not express of it, it is still prevalent nowadays. Besides, no one will certainly come out and say they are racists, however, they express by the movements they take. “And yet the truth is that racism does still exist in our culture, and it remains a very crippling power to many” (Racism in America Today). No matter how much distance is there, there will be the people at all times that they think they are superior as of your skin color. Above all, we may not see it frequently but racism is still everywhere. Racial discrimination starts with physical differences. People tend to judge others by their culture, race, gender, skin color, and ethnic background. For example, making fun of other person’s culture or race which have no control of how would they feel since they are a part of themselves in the race. Moreover, racist people amuse other people’s race by making fun of their skin color. Allowing from the article “As the only African woman in her position at her job she had been subjected to virulent racist and sexist abuse” (Physical Effects of Racism). Recently, a high school student was talking about his friend how other students were making fun of his race when he was new in United States. When students are being bullied, it affects their mental state leading to stress and various mental disorders. Lately, students were talking about how racism is evil and hurtful. It pains a lot when someone talks about your race behind your back. It also affects your health when you think of the incident over and over. According to the article, “Hispanics had the worst mental health effects, the study shows; perceptions of bias significantly increased their symptoms of all four disorders” (Racism hurts kids’ mental health). Racist people are dull, cruel, and careless; they only care about them and make fun of other peoples’ cultures and races. In general, everyone must learn how to have respect for other people’s race, culture, and ethnic background and terminate racism instead of keeping it active. Moreover, folks should think of how other people will get hurt physically and mentally before they start bullying about cultures and races. However, the best way to destroy racism is not to talk about other people’s races and live in a peaceful way.
