African Americans have made great progress in many areas, but still have not kept the pace of the White Americans. African Americans are susceptible to the problems with a low-income group that also faces discrimination and prejudice. African Americans has made substantial gains in elective office but still are underrepresented compared with their numbers in the general population. (Schaefer.2012.p.197). Even with a Black president the African Americans are still not treated fair. Economic picture has change a little since 50 years ago, they are much better off than they use to be their income are steadily increasing, but so are the White Americans. Whether it is related to schools, jobs, political it does not matter the African Americans will always have the short end of the stick. We as African Americans have come a long ways since slavery, not all Africans are living in poverty. We have a lot of successful people in this world the media just choose to focus on the poverty of the African American race.
Racism is the belief in racial superiority: the belief that people of different races have different qualities and abilities, and that some races are inherently superior or inferior. (Bing dictionary).Racism affect diversity because it keeps the different races separated such as people may not go in certain neighborhood because of the race of others.
I can only speak for myself that question depends on the individual person itself how they handle diversity. I can interact with any group of people I have friends who are White, Indian, Chinese and Hispanic. My interactions are of the positive I guess because I was not taught to hate or discriminate a person color of their skin. But everyone does not fill like I do.
