RSPCA Advertisement Analysis

WHAT WILL YOU DO ONCE YOU SEE THIS HAPPEN AGAIN?
The Royalty Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is a charity founded on 1824 by Arthur Broome, William Wilberforce, and Richard Martin, in Strand, London, and United Kingdom. As of right now, the charity is operating in England and Wales which promotes animal welfare. By stating its ethos, pathos, and logos the RSPCA “Help neglected animals leave their old lives behind” advertisement (see Figure 1), does an outstanding job on the setting and placement of every detail. When I first looked at the ad, the first thing that caught my eye was the horses old for shedding away allowing the new one coming out, another thing would also be the way the background is set. The reason we weren’t as aware of animal cruelty was because this entire social media was not as common as it is now, this new technology, the whole phone apps, you can find out someone’s life in just a click of a button even if they are on the other side of the world. It is way too advanced, in a way it benefits us though let me tell you why. Because of social media we get to see citizen reporting’s of cases happening in their community, for example; they see something wrong with a dog tied up in a tree with a 10lb. chain, no shade nor water what are they going to do? Take out their phone and snap a picture for evidence, once they take it, too Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. they begin to write a whole article of what they saw and believe and the friends start commenting, liking, and sharing so that the friends of their friends can see as well. TV shows are another resource that can show you how to look for signs of animal abuse on animals which in my opinion is great idea because no animal deserves to suffer. The ad is perfectly invoking that sorrow type of emotion, because it makes you feel just as the horse
The horse could have had a spotlight aimed at him directly while lying on the ground the size of a twig, but not in this case. Although the horse is still in the middle of the picture, the way it is detailed is so simple, yet it shows a whole lot. Who could have ever thought that just an image of a horse getting his good life back would be so conveying. The horse’s fur was the first thing that caught my eye in this picture, it looks so real and vivid hanging of its body while he is standing facing the colorful paradise while leaving his old life in the dull section. The way the foreground is set to be dark, lonely and just dirt no grass I think is a great idea because they are trying to represent death and to me that would remind me of a cemetery, nothing but dry dirt. In the other hand, the piece of land it is looking and seems its going towards looks bright with green grass and nice blue clouds unlike the other cloudy charcoal gray colors. The main detail is the fur falling off though; dirty, old, mistreated fur leaving and allowing the new, clean one to come out and make the horse look decent while the old one just hangs off him. “Help neglected animals leave their old lives behind.” Is a very powerful quote even though it is a short one it says a whole lot with just those eight words, it is telling you exactly what we would do if we were to join the RSPCA
