Background: Various events of the 1700s led colonists to develop strong beliefs regarding the British government. The Trial of Peter Zenger, The Proclamation of 1763, the Boston Massacre combined with constantly changing taxes and rules that governed them made many think that self-governance was the best path for the colonies. Others felt that the King and his appointed officials had their best interests in mind and preferred to stay loyal to the crown. Later, during the American Revolution, most colonists took one side or the other. Either they were Patriots or loyalist. Patriots believed that the colonies should break away from England and govern themselves. Loyalist believed that the colonies should stay true, or loyal, to the king and to England. They were also know as Tories.…

Write a response to the press release in 200-250 words. In your response, you may agree with one or two points, but you must also show how you “resist” the text by questioning it, or arguing with it or refuting it. It may be helpful to think of your response as a reaction to how the writer was trying to influence your thinking. Pay attention to the words used to name and describe, the details included, and any comparisons made. (The letter-to-the-editor format assumes readers have read the article, so you do not need to summarize it in the letter.)…
In Charles Simic’s “A Reunion with Boredom,” Simic talks about the need for “a quiet place to sit and think.” (Simic 374). In my house, I have a few quiet places to sit and think. But my most favorite and most used place is my basement. I have a beat-up, old, plush couch and loveseat set to lounge on, with pillows. There are blankets for when I’m cold, and when it’s hot, the basement is the coolest place in the house so either way, I’m comfortable. I can play music, create white noise with the washer or dryer, or simply sit in silence. But my favorite thing about the basement is that it’s downstairs so I can sit in peace without my dogs crawling all over me or whining and scratching. Anything I could need to chill out, sit and think is in the basement.…
A Position Paper is a brief summarize of a country's policy and interests concerning the topics on the Agenda. It not a speech neither a statement, so there is no need for a salutation in the beginning. The Position Paper should be a product of the delegate’s own research and should be concise and substantial. After having researched on the topic and formed a precise idea about the external policy of the delegating state you are now called to make a small abstract on the situation linked to the topic, the position of your country, actions taken in a multilateral level and proposed actions for future consideration. In the first part of your Position Paper you should briefly address the issues on the Agenda, the relevancy and the scope of the problem. You should mention the major players, the current developments concerning the issues under discussion, the action UN has taken in this respect, whether by specialized agencies, regional bodies or non-governmental organizations, the most significant resolutions that have been passed, international treaties and provisions for future action. In the second part you should specify the official position of the country you represent in respect to the issues under consideration. It should include brief statements about where your country stands on the issue in question, past statements on the topic by representatives of your government, especially if these mention the significance of the issues on the Agenda to your country, specific suggestions that your country will support in providing a solution for the issues in question. You should also make reference to the role UN has assumed to confront this issue. You do not need to go into detail about your negotiating positions. Remember that…
