R-5122 Reflective Essay

The policy that I chose is R-5122. The policy explains the steps on how an educator is to communicate the progress on students. In other words, it breaks down the grades and how the educator is to convey what the grades mean to the caretakers. R-5122 states that caretakers are to be informed on their child’s grades every 18 weeks if the child is in elementary and quarterly from grades 6-12. In the policy is recommended that at least one care taker is present during the parent-teacher conference from the beginning of the year. Additionally, R-5122 suggests that caretakers are to refer to the county’s portal to stay up-to-date on their child’s progress. Moreover, the policy suggests that educators are to keep records of those encounters with the caretakers.

R-5122 does not apply to the first point which is that the primary givers are experts on their child. I personally think that the educator is the expert when it comes to the child’s education as the teacher is the one that is assessing formally and informally. On the second point, the family cannot really make the final decision on what the child will receive for a grade. However, the family and decide what steps they will take in order to help the child succeed. The third point is applicable as the family is the nucleus in the child’s life and indeed are the constant and are the service providers. This however, does not limit the school to become providers of services that the child might need in order to excel socially and academically. The fourth point is a tricky one, the parents do make the final decisions and as educators and administrators we must respect their priorities. Many families have different cultural backgrounds that might not embrace high

In my opinion, it is very challenging job to find a balance between providing adequate pain medications for suitable candidates and preventing these medications from being misused and abused. Providing care with a holistic approach will allow an FNP the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with their patients. As a result, they can easily monitor patients' use of opioids over time and frequently assess patients' conditions to determine the need for continuing pain medication. Even more important is the need to educate patients about the benefit and the risk when using opioids as well as how to properly discard unused medication. Last but not least, an NP should keep up with current research for alternative pain management such as…

I feel it is my number one responsibility to the parents that I give them the knowledge, skills, and support needed at home (Morrison, 2009) to help them understand how the school system works and why their participation in their children’s learning is so important. Before classes even begin, I can start mailing out letters to the parents (even though I use the word “parents” throughout this paper, this includes all caregivers, because I realize that some children live with one parent, foster parents, grandparents, or other family members) listing the school’s guidelines and programs. This way, they will know and feel a part of what the school and their children are doing. I could encourage them in the letter to explore different avenues of helping their children learn, like taking workshops or adult education classes (2009) that are offered through the school education system. I can share with them ways that they can help in the classroom or tell them about parent-teacher organizations (PTO), where parents can learn school agenda and share their educational viewpoints with other parents and school faculty. When parents bring their children to meet me as their new teacher during…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

This assignment will be a piece of reflection based on a clinical decision I have assisted in during my placement. This reflection will relate to a situation that occurred in my clinical work where I felt that I have learnt something that is of value to my practice. The clinical decision was based on wound dressing. I will identify what I have learned from the experience and how this relates to theory that has been researched. To help me with this reflection I will use Gibbs (1988) model of reflection. For the purpose of confidentiality I will call the patient Mrs H. The description of events will be in the appendix.…

My journey to become a Counselling Psychologist began in 2008 when as a Life Coach; I had a self referral who suffered from anxiety over his forthcoming exams in his second year at university. I started collaboratively setting goals to manage his workload and set timetable into manageable chunks through asking him challenging questions so that e can start to think for himself. He had plenty of resources namely his family, time, books but he just would not settle into coaching which left me feeling I was inadequate as a Life Coach and started to doubt whether he could manage at all. As a life Coach I didn’t have a supervisor so had no one to maul this situation over with.…
