Hello Mr. Thurley,

Thank you for the feedback on my Outline for ME #3. Anyhow, the reason for this email is that I am thinking about changing my third essay topic to instead discuss the ethics of film director Quentin Tarantino's recent decision to attend and speak at a police brutality rally.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback given at your convenience on the following thesis before I completely change my topic. My working thesis is, “Quentin

For the first part of this assignment you will create a thesis statement. A thesis statement is usually a single sentence somewhere in your first paragraph that presents your main idea to the reader. The body of the essay organizes the material you gather and present in support of your main idea. Keep in mind that a thesis is an interpretation of a question or subject, not the subject itself. The article “Trashing the Oceans,” by Thomas Hayden, which was published in U.S. News and World Report, states how the oceans are being polluted by the trash going within it. Another article “Managing Marine Plastic Pollution,”John H. Tibbetts, was published in Environmental Health Perspectives, demonstrates how the pollution is greatly impacting the ocean. The article “Trashing oceans” utilizes ethos, logos, and pathos in a superior manner as compared to “Managing Marine Plastic Pollution” because it holds factual information and draws the reader’s interest.…

One Weakness presented in the book is concerning times when there is not even a slight reference to the thesis, for extended amounts of time, in order to connect the subjec to the point the author’s trying to make. It seemed a lot like a textbook and had a form that certainly placed too much responsibility upon the shoulders of the reader to ensure the advancement of the book’s premise. The author did not identify with his audience…

A main struggle I had with this essay was the open-endedness of it. I found it difficult to come up with a dynamic research question and furthermore develop an adequate thesis out of that question, because I was often uncertain about whether or not I was doing it “right.” I worried that my topic would not be significant enough, my claims and appreciation of the craft not literary enough, and my greater implications not great enough. However, one thing I think that I did well was allowing the text to shape my claims, rather than manipulating the text to support claims I was seeking out. My final thesis and claims were much different from my original intention as they evolved a lot as I continued exploring the text. I hope you like my work, and I appreciate your feedback and time.…

Litature is a major contributory factor in a decade. In the 70s there were several break-out authors who we still read and look up to today. Among them are John Updike, Joyce Carol Oates, Kurt Vonnegut, Toni Morrison, Neil Simon, Sam Sheperd, Agatha Christie, Robert C. Atkins, Christina Crawford, Richard Nixon, Carl Sagan, and Stephen King. Robert C. Atkins is responsible for the Atkins Diet which has taken America by storm. Richard Nixon wrote the book Memoirs of Richard Nixon. And Stephen King debuted in 1979 with his first big name book, The Dead Zone. Toni Morrison was born Chloe…

The mass killings of elephants for their ivory, the widespread pollution across the ocean, and the careless behavior towards nature are all things that people are contributing to. Mary Kate Frank, the author of both “Saving the World’s Ocean” and “The Race to Save the Elephants” believes that people’s lack of respect towards the elephants and the ocean is resulting in negative effects to the U.S and other diverse nations, such as a dramatic drop in trade and transportation, and an economic breakdown. Although some people are trying to overcome this hindrance such as the U.S and China, there are other obstacles blocking the way. The aftermath of all of this is the ocean life and wildlife dying because of the copious amounts of greed filling…

John Dutton’s essay “Toxic Soup” (2006) speculates about the effects that humans have on pollution in the ocean, as well as ways the damage can be reduced. In this essay, Dutton incorporates his personal experiences as a surfer and nature lover with statistics and his knowledge of the effects of water pollution on animals and humans. Dutton’s purpose is to raise public awareness of the need for environmental protection of the ocean in order to preserve and improve nature’s status. Given the language and references used, Dutton is writing for college educated adults interested in science and the environment.…
