• A system designed to increase the probability that each result reported is valid and can be used with confidence by the physician • Refers to activities that evaluate monitor or evaluate, regulate services • QC procedures are designed to detect error • If acceptable, proceed with results • If unacceptable, evaluate test method and re-run test
