What is America’s gift to my generation? This is a good question with many possible answers. One might say that America gave their generation freedom of speech. While another might say that America gave their generation freedom of religion. These are both good answers, but I say that America has given my generation so much more than just freedom of speech or religion, and many agree with me.America has given my generation the right to vote regardless of race or gender, the right to have our own personal belongings, the right to protest against something that we believe is wrong. America has given my generation the freedom to own weapons to defend ourselves and the freedom to go wherever we want and be whoever we want. America has given my generation…

I love the way you explained how people celebrated 4th of July in America. It definitely gave us a sense of patriotism and national pride. America have gone a long way. Traditionally, it's to celebrate Independence Day with American flags, red-white-blue, and that whole game. Nowadays, from my perspective, there are some patriotic people. However, for me while growing up, it's more BBQ, pool parties, fireworks, and most importantly red-white-blue & American flags. That's still somewhat patriotic and bring people together as you said, communal celebration. Those celebrations only happen in few times annually and truly united as together and helps us remember that America definitely have gone a long way.…

Unfortunately, the American dream is becoming more and more materialistic. I guess it was always a bit materialistic, but when I look at America today, I see a nation obsessed with shopping and buying unnecessary products. Previously, people aspired to have a nice house in the suburbs with a couple of cars, the big SUV, the Costco member ship and the greener grass. Now, there is no end to the products that people want: the latest I Phone, expensive cars, and designer purses, the list is endless. The American dream revolves around luxury goods for most people. Shopping is not a problem on its own; it’s the obsessive accumulation of unnecessary products, along with the hope that…

America became a country on July 4th, 1776; over 240 years ago. That’s greater than 240 years of generations of people trying to define what it means to be an American, but few still stand true today from that long ago. Being accepting of others, not only other ethnic groups but fellow Americans as well, is one way in which things have not changed from the first American generation to the latest. One of the longest standing traits of the “poster child” American is being courageous, whether it be to earn our freedom or to fight for our rights as a civilization. Taking pride in our country is one of the oldest, and strongest, qualities of an American that was so important in the forming of our country and of equal importance, if not more so, today. Our generation defines what it means to be an American with the simple, and somewhat original, manner of being accepting of others, being courageous, and taking pride in our country.…

Very early on, Americans are taught to believe that the more one does, the more one receives in return. It is undeniable that this ideology stems from biblical teachings; “for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7) This ideology continues to get instilled in every aspect of the average American’s life. The more studying a student does, the better grade the student receives. The more an athlete practices, the better athlete he’ll become. It is not odd that adults keep this ingrained in their minds as they go into the workforce. The more time and energy spent on the job, the more money and benefits an employee will receive. Money is an important ingredient in making the American Dream become a reality, and Americans experience constant reminders of the need to live the dream, through the media and peers. Living the…

Over 200 years ago, our founding fathers envisioned a free America. They were able to find opportunity to bring their ideas to reality and create a foundation for a nation ideal for all. This dream is one of the many that has molded America into the reputable county it is today. Without the courage and boldness these men had to speak their minds, nobody would have the current opportunities accessible to them. Although many have developed the idea that the “American Dream” is not effective, it still remains a vital component to a successful nation.…
