Objective: To identify the most determinants of health care issues that lead African Americans to the poor health outcomes. The study will seek the answer for why African Americans disproportionately access health care and have faced poor health outcomes? We hypothesized that socioeconomic status, environmental factors, and mistrust to the healthcare providers signifies the likelihood of being disproportionately access to the health care services. Design methodology: 60 participants, age 26-70 year will be selected from five Colorado cities. The study will conduct in the five cities of the Colorado, where the majority of African Americans reside. These cities are Aurora, Denver, Fort Morgan, Greeley and Commerce City. The focus group will encourage to participate actively in the discussion. The focus group, age 26-70 years will be selected based on the knowledge and experience they have to the topic selected for the study. A participant with the indicated age and relevant to the topic of the study will participate in the study without any difference in age and health condition. Each of the five cities’ focus group contains twelve participants and last for two hours in each discussion session. During the study, two investigators will be present, one serving as the moderator will take profuse notes and the other record the discussion. At each session, participants will talk about their perceptions of the issues raised, hear one another’s views, and provides additional enlightenments. We will use the ordinal measures to rank the respondents’ answers hence, the dependent variable is the disproportionate health care services for African Americans, and our independent variables are racism, socioeconomic status, and environmental
Hence, we understand the significant insinuations of the study and want to disseminate the information. Understanding the relevant journals in this study, we will seek publication in the Black Scholar: journal of Black studies and research, Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved, and the Journal of Health Disparities Research and Practice. Incorporating this study into the most prominent journals will facilitate the dissemination of the work and provides a better understanding of the critical issues in health care
