Research Action Plan of urban growth and decline in Pyrmont/Ultimo area

Aim or purpose of investigation:

The aim of the investigation was to determine the Urban Growth and Decline of the Pyrmont-Ultimo Area.
Specifically we investigated various categories of restoration and decay in the area. These categories included, areas of urban Decay, Urban Renewal, Consolidation, conservation and adaptive reuse, gentrification, affordable housing and the use of sympathetic development. The investigation also allowed us to identify the various demographics and geographical features of the area by using our fieldwork booklet to assist our studies of the Pyrmont and Ultimo area as of the recent times.

Some of the primary sources that have used throughout this assignment are things like the photos in which I had collected on the day of the trip, information that I collected on the trip, and information that was present in the surroundings of the Pyrmont- Ultimo area like signs and maps. This was very useful in helping me develop the three focus questions and answering them. Some of the secondary sources that I found were websites with information about the area and the information that we were provided before the field trip.

Some of the techniques I used to collect the data in which I used for the research action plan were taking photos whilst I was on the fieldtrip, notes I wrote down also the activity work book that was given to me by the tour guide. The secondary sources
I used to complete my research action plan were websites to help find out about the area in the 1900 's.

Research findings:

From the 1890 's Pyrmont was providing Sydney with the means by which it ran at the time, woolpower and labour. Wool became a very prominent industry with the area thriving with imported wools and other clothing products. Sugar and food goods also
