Pursuing Personal Academic Goals
Pursuing my personal academic goals is an important aspect of my everyday life as a college student at Ohio University. When making decisions I keep in mind my academic goals and values to better myself and the understanding I have of my education. Prior to hearing about Semester at Sea I knew participating in a study abroad program would fit into my future as a student. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to immerse myself into another culture and learn about different cities, peoples, and understandings of the world.
One of the academic goals I have that is most important to me is doing something with my education that will allow me to stand out from the rest. Not only will Semester at Sea allow me to stand out from the rest

Canadian society continues to become more diverse in needs and cultural ideals, and throughout this transition PSAC must modify their perspectives and missions to suit the needs of the group. Travel and working abroad are becoming more popular as the younger generation enters the workforce. Post-secondary institutions endorse travel and studying in other countries however many students are reluctant to pay for the rising travel and education costs. Instead, individuals plan to travel after finishing their degree or course. Instead of going to the typical high school like my peers from middle school, I choose to travel 3-4 hours every day for a dual-enrollment program that challenges my mind and abilities every day. This fall, I will be attending University of California, Santa Barbara, under the Global Studies program. I will get a job to support my college education, and I will pursue internships, minors, and study abroad at every opportunity. I am going to become a diplomat through the U.S. Foreign Service, and I will explore the world, making change, helping people, and most importantly, gaining a broader insight of what makes the world tick. The more I travel, the more I will see, and as I learn I intend on using my knowledge to solve major problems and crises and leave the largest positive impact on the world I am capable of, with the help of those I…

This year I experienced some major life changes that caused me to re-evaluate my life. I finalized a lengthy divorce proceeding; I lost my job, and I moved to San Diego, California. These events may have caused some people to feel hopeless, but they motivated me to make some life changes. I enrolled in the BSBA program with a concentration in accounting at Walden University in order to finish the degree I started 8 years ago. I have learned that goal setting is important in order to achieve success in life. For me to attain the future that I see for myself and my family, I set academic and personal goals. In this essay, I will discuss my academic goals and my personal goals. I will also discuss how these goals connect to my degree program. My academic goals are significant to the achievement of some of my personal goals. One personal goal is to start my own accounting firm for small business owners. Before I can achieve that objective, I need to focus on my academic goals.…

There are several fundamental reasons why students all over the world choose to pursue higher education: to broaden their knowledge base, to achieve financial independence, and to be a part of an environment that fosters personal growth. I truly believe that the best way to accomplish these three goals is to fully immerse oneself in a stimulating environment, where there is an abundance of opportunities to grow both during and after college. I am currently a second-year student at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), and I spent my first year of post-secondary education at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC). I am highly interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, but my current institution only offers…
