    Teenage Sex

One of the world's biggest problems in today's society is teenage sex. United States has the highest pregnancy, abortion and child birth among teenagers. The biggest reason for this is because children grow up with the media promoting sex. Movies, music and magazines send the message that sex is okay and often expected. Teenagers don't fully understand the consequences that can arise from there decisions. The national campaign to prevent teen pregnancy has done a lot of studies and found about twenty percent of adolescents will have sexual intercourse before there fifteenth birthday and one in seven sexually active fourteen year olds will become pregnant. It has also been a concern that sexually active teenagers are far more likely to engage in other risky behaviors. Eighteen percent of sexually active young people reported that they drink regularly compared to three percent virgins. Similarly 29 percent of the sexually experienced adolescents said they had smoked regularly, and 43 percent had used marijuana, compared with 8 percent and 10 percent of the virgins. This report also found that teenagers have ample opportunities to engage in sexual activities. More than half of the fourteen year olds that were questioned have attended a party with no adult supervision, and about a third said that within the last three months, they had lain on a bed or couch alone with someone they liked. From half to three-quarters of the experienced 12- to 14-year-olds said they had used contraception the first time they had sex. About a quarter of the 12- to 14-years-olds had dated or had a romantic relationship with someone at least two years older -- and the greater the age difference, the more likely the relationship was to have included sexual intercourse, the study found. The data in the report comes from three federally financed surveys of young people -- the National Survey of Family Growth, the National Longitudinal Survey of Adolescent Health and the National Longitudinal…

On January 19th, 2008 I was the happiest person alive. It was very hot and sunny out.. I remember how nice of weather it was. My family and I had taken a vacation to Florida and it was one of the best experiences of my life. 7 years was a long time ago, but I still remember every single detail about that trip. On that day, one of the best things ever in my life happened. Even though most people don’t think this is a big deal, it was a very big deal to me. When I was in Elementry school my friends would always ask me if I wanted to go biking around the neighborhood.. I would always have to say no because I did not know how to ride a bike. As much as I tried to learn how, I would always give up. Nothing would work. I was the last of my friends to learn how to ride a bike. It always made me sad watching people bike down the road.. wishing I knew how to do that. Then one day, my cousin Lexie who is 2 years younger than me decided she was going to teach me how to ride a bike. She insisted on it. “Ally! You’re missing out on so much! You need to learn!!” The whole day I thought to myself how many people have tried to teach me how to ride a bike and failed. It was hopeless. I was positive I wasn’t going to learn anytime soon.. maybe even never. Later that day, Lexie came over with her bike, and I had mine. Every minute that went by felt like an hour. Even though I could see the disappointment on her face, she wasn’t going to give up on me. Finally, there was hope. She had done it! We had done it.. I had done it. I was biking down the sidewalk with the biggest smile on my face. I had finally learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. I could finally ride one on my own and be like the rest of the kids. I remember being full of joy that day and riding my bike the whole day long. On that day, I felt different, I felt as if a huge weight had just been lifted off my shoulders. It was an amazing feeling that I’ll definitely never forget.…

Throughout life, humanity craves the chance to become all "grown up." They are constantly antisipating the opportunity to participate in the activities those of age are able to do. However, what many do not realize is being grown up does indeed give you all of those opportunities to fulfill, but it also takes away something very important, and that is your childhood. Every person develops and grows differently. There is no set age for when puberty begins or ends. Generally, the girls start to mature earlier than the boys. Physically, the girls have their growth spurt first and begin to develop the characteristics and features of a woman. During the 2004-2005 school year, I worked as a Title I aide. I had the opportunity to work with a wide range age of children. Many of the sixth graders I worked with were at the beginning of their…

During this period of development each individual will undergo a roller-coaster of changes in their physical, cognitive and psychosocial development. The Individual’s physical changes, as they go through puberty are the most obvious to the naked eye, resulting in sexual maturity. Every adolescent will experience physical changes with their primary and secondary sex characteristics although not all adolescents will experience it at the same time.
