Abstract
The aim was to investigate method of loci in memory and forgetting. To carry out this experiment we used students aged 16-18 from a Pre-I.B. class of Struer Statsgymnasium, Denmark. They were divided into two groups, the method of loci and a control group. The participants were given a sheet of paper with 25 words on they had to remember, in the given order. The dependent variable in this experiment is the words the participants have to memorize since these don’t change. The independent variable is the way the participants choose to memorize the words in, since we don’t know what the controlled group chose and if the method of loci group actually used the method of loci. The results showed that there wasn’t a big different between the two groups. They generally did really good remembering the words both the first second and the second time considered that they did not see the words again. The conclusion to this experiment is that the method of loci may not be the best way to memorize words with or if there have been too many errors in the study because the participants hadn’t fully understood the experiment.

Introduction
The general design of the experiment was to use method of loci and a controlled group. As well to measure the rate of forgetting, using recall memory tasks after 1 week. They were given instructions in their group. The experiment is a replicating of Lowell D. Groninger’s Mnemonic imagery and forgetting. The original experiment took place in the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Baltimore, Md. 21228. One group was given a 25-word list of high-imagery words to learn using a mnemonic imagery technique (the method of loci). They were then compared to a control group who learned the words by grouping them. Everybody had to remember the words in the right order.
