Psychology Career Research Paper
Being a psychologist is an outstanding career because psychologists learn to understand how their patients’ environment affect their collective behavior. There are multiple psychology subjects psychologists have to study such as depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. They help improve how the mind processes in particular situations everywhere and anywhere we go. In general, psychologists are concerned with how people absorb their surroundings. My goal is to become a psychologist and be able to help people with their personal issues, study how the human brain works, and comprehend why we think the way we think.

To make patients better, they have to study their biological, psychological and genetic causes of behavior. Psychologists take everything they learn from their research in college to help their patients. As a profession, psychology requires a high level of intelligence. I believe psychologists are an important part of our society today because of how they make the human brain function better.
When psychologists help their patients before they do anything they first have to analyze their mental illness. After they understand what’s causing their problem they may do mental exercises and/or activities to help. Psychology is a discipline for the brain that takes years of practice. A psychology major is a program that studies analysis and treatment of behavior problems and disorders. Jobs that I am most interested in when I get out of college are clinical psychologist, child psychologist, and school psychologist.
A big part of psychology is emotions that are hard to categorize. Most psychologists fail to attempt to understand the purpose of our feelings. These emotions occur when we have a combination of feelings on a particular subject. Famous journalist, Leary, says “Emotions have motivational consequences and they tell us what to do.” We sometimes have trouble finding solutions to some of our problems because of these odd emotions. Sports psychologists are psychologists that focus on motivation and athletic performances. These psychologists utilize what they learn from psychology colleges to help patients perform better and recover from sports injuries. Sports psychologists make an average of 55,000 dollars annually.
School psychologists work in the educational system to treat behavior and learning issued that children experience. They often work in collaboration with other professionals including teachers and doctors as well as parents to help kids overcome social, emotional, behavioral, and academic problems. School psychologists make an average of $58,360 every year depending on the school they work at.

The lowest 10 percent earned less than $45,620, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $125,560 (Henderson and Dolphin 1).
