Essay For G.E.D
My reason for dropping out of school and getting my G.E.D is because I don’t do well in school I don’t get along with the teachers or the kids although I do make some friends there are other kids who I just don’t get along with I don’t like work or homework because school isn’t for me I hate it along with immature teenagers who think life is a game plus I think getting my G.E.D would be better and faster for me it will be good to because I’m under C.Y.F.D custody and I already took the Pre G.E.D test and past everything but math so instead of having 8 classes each day I will have one math class every two weeks which will take the stress and my school depression off of me and I will have more time for a job and to take a Driver’s Ed class to get my learners permit and since I’m more grown up and more mature than most kids because of the life I had it would be best for me to get my G.E.D rather than stay in a place that I don’t like and fail out of school like I was doing. Rather than not pass math again, I chose to withdraw. I didn’t want to run the risk of barely passing and not being prepared for Math 110 which would then jeopardize my GI Bill. My Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) counselor recommended me to try Math 56 as it covered more material and I would have better an opportunity to pass it. I took Math 56 over this past summer. I did not pass the class yet, I felt more confident in my abilities to understand Algebra. Proudly, last semester I passed Math 56 and was one of the top students in the class. Without a strong foundation, Algebra has taken me along time to understand. With perseverance, my math anxiety has become manageable. Additionally, I came to learn about some challenges when using the GI Bill, for example, there is no pay when school is not in session. I went to the Palomar College Career Center to update my resume. Unfortunately, getting a part-time job on the weekends proved to be difficult. Hard work of looking for more income had paid off and I was able to find a job working with Veterans Office doing VA work study. Learning how to navigate through the college system in order to help my seventeen-year-old son go through the process is motivation to finish my education plan and…

My desired outcome of my financial aid appeal is to be approved which means to have another chance at finishing college because if I don’t get this chance again I know for a fact that I will never finish college, as I work a minimum wage job and have a child to take care of, and I want to better our life. I understand I will be put on financial aid probation. I feel very confident that I am able to continue my coursework and improve my academic progress. I intend to register and repeat the coursework in the classes that I failed. I will also use the assignment planner to help me stay on track.…

Just because I have friends that quit school because they were lazy and due to work doesn’t mean that I too will quit. We all have our own Universal laws and our goals to achieve. I discovered that you think first before the actions come later through the point that Kant made. You also will learn to do good first to anyone and they will do the same thing. If you respect and do the right things, then people will also respect you and know that you are a well human being. This also goes for when thinking first and actions come later. The way we think is also part of who we are. If you think smart and positive things like staying in school and not quitting, a reward which will be a good education and will earn a lot of money. Mill points out about how a plant needs water, fertilizer, and sun to survive, but if any of those 3 are added too much, then the plant will die. This made me realize that with the people we hang out with are the way we are. I realized that I was hanging out with the wrong people and I was starting to think about dropping and quit school. By quitting school, we then will have trouble finding a job and lack of education. My chart analysis grand totals came out to be all negative. This means that I should not quit school and to continue on getting an education and…

One of the proudest moments of life is walking across the stage receiving a high school diploma. However, approximately 1.2 million high school students fail to graduate each year. Three out of 10 tenth-grade students in American schools do not graduate. About 20 percent of the drop-outs are white or Asian while 45 percent are blacks and Hispanics (Gales). One of the biggest debates regarding the mandatory dropout age is deciding whether it should be raised or kept the same. Eleven states have set the drop out age at 17, while 19 states allow students to leave school at age 16 (Gales). This paper will show why it is beneficial to raise the age a student can make the decision to drop out of high school to 18.…

Enrolling in school was something I knew I had to do but have put off for the past few years. My Military training has been my priority since day one. Attending as many military schools and deploying often has taken precedence over college. At this point progression in my career is dependent on my ability to complete my degree and to fulfill my education. Deciding to go back to school seemed like an obvious choice for my career and beyond. I had once enrolled in a class where I physically had to sit in the classroom three days a week. With the hectic schedule of my job I quickly had to drop class and focus on my military training.…

I missed so much of school, while I was in rehab that I decided to drop out of high school. I took the test for my General Education Diploma. I did so well on the test my very first time, that the General Education Diploma Program paid for two of my classes I took at Jeff State last year. So, I started college a year earlier than I would have if I had not dropped out. I made straight A’s last year and intend to continue making good grades this year. I am majoring in Psychology, and I am very excited about my bright and exciting…

Thinking about many issues in today’s society, there are many reasons an individual would drop out of school such as pregnancy, family concerns, and individual reasons. Most people know that education is important however, there can be many circumstances and/or situations that could prevent a person to drop out of school. One reason that came to mind was pregnancy. With me being a mother, I know the hardships and the problems that came come about after having a child. If a parent does not have a good support system as well as some financial help, then this could cause a parent to drop out of school to take care of their child. Another reason for a person to drop out of school would be family concerns. Meaning, if a person’s relative becomes sick and there is no other person to take care of them then one may drop out of school in order to take care of that relative. Another reason I feel that could cause a person to drop out of school is that the school is not addressing their needs or if the person feel being in school is not helping their situation. Some people have to have special attention or needs in school and if the school is not addressing them, then it could cause the person to fall behind in their studies. From all of these reasons, there are many effects that are created from a person dropping out of school. One effect is that it increases their chance of not being able to find a good job. Another effect for not attending school could be isolation. In other words, if a person does not graduate with their peers they may begin to think negative of themselves and then may isolate themselves from friends and family because they do not feel that they are “good enough.” Overall, there could be many more causes and effects of dropping out of school. I just chose to discuss the…
