Write at least 300 words describing a recent time when you had to test a theory. This theory may be something you have tested at work, school, or even at home, such as using alternative ingredients in a recipe or a different method of discipline with your children. When thinking about a time I had to test a theory there are many that come to mind. One thing that comes to mind is when my middle cousin had a situation at school where she was being labeled with ADHD and the school demanded her to be put on medications. I wanted to make sure that if there was any issue then we could start at step one. I wanted to make sure that it was not something that was causing this or if it was something medically wrong. My theory was my cousin was bored and just acting out because she was not being challenged. Once I was given the information by the school to get my cousin on medication I used the information and looked online to find out if my cousin had any of the symptoms that the school had described. I used bing to find out the information I needed and was directed to WebMD. I found out that many of the symptoms the school had described were not any of the symptoms I had seen in my cousin myself. I also contacted several groups and asked many questions. One of the most helpful was being able to contact not only my cousin’s pediatrician but I was able to contact several other doctors with informal questions. I also kept a logs of my cousin behavior for a few weeks as well as have a few conversations with my cousin. It was almost like a process of elimination with changing diets, changing sleeping patterns and changing the home routine for a little bit. With the advice of her pediatricians I was also asked to do some of the things I had already done to see if that would make a difference. I Don’t think that I would do anything different then I have already

    14. Evolutionary theories often emphasize that humans have adapted to their physical environment. One such theory hypothesizes that people should spontaneously follow a 24-hour cycle of sleeping and waking—even if they are not exposed to the usual pattern of sunlight. To test this notion, eight paid volunteers were placed (individually) in a room in which there was no light from the outside and no clocks or other indications of time. They could turn the lights on and off as they wished. After a month in the room, each individual tended to develop a steady cycle. Their cycles at the end of the study were as follows: 25, 27, 25, 23,24, 25, 26, and 25.…

According to Frank Schmalleger, “some theories of human behavior help us understand why certain people engage in acts that society defines as criminal or deviant, while others do not” (78). Once a theory is implemented it must be tested, with some of these trial an error tests come results thus either proving the theory or discrediting it due to the results.…

Theories of personalities have been studied for many decades. The biological and humanistic approaches to personality have both become infamous in studying the science behind personality. Abraham Maslow developed the hierarchy of needs because he did not believe that the conditioning theories adequately portrayed the complexity of human behavior. In analyzing both the biological and humanistic theories, one can see where Maslow may have been right in that assumption.…

There are three steps in the scientific process, unsystematic observation, building theories, and evaluating propositions. I have evaluated my personality many times in hopes to better myself. When I was younger I went through relationships like they were candy. I always blamed the other individual because of course I could do nothing wrong. A close friend of mine one day pointed out that I am not the same person I am with friends as I am with my boyfriends. At first I decided to not listen and thought she was being ridiculous, but as my relationships continued to fail, I thought maybe it was me, so I began to do an evaluation on myself with my boyfriend at the time. When I was with my friends I was extremely outgoing, fun, was always laughing, and making my friends laugh. I wanted to investigate if I was also this person when in a relationship or if my personality did transform. I started to observe myself by paying attention more to our conversations and what we would do when together. I soon was seeing I would start up arguments quite frequently and was very opinionated, stubborn, and it was my way or the highway type of attitude. Upon realizing this I turned to my boyfriend at the time and asked if he had noticed a difference from when we were friends to being a couple. He did not mention my personality but he did mention that things were more stressful and that we argued a lot more. The relationship after time became extremely rocky and we were on and off, I knew I loved him, but for some reason I could not change and could not figure out why I was acting this way. I then started to see a councilor so I could better figure out what was going on inside of me. When with the councilor we were able to build theories one of the theories was the fact that I feel that I need to be dominant when it comes to males and she suggested that it could be from a time when I was badly mistreated by an ex. To evaluate this proposition I wrote a letter to my ex…
