The Benefits of Educating Young Adults to Form Healthy Habits In today’s modern age we are all connected; the younger the generation, the more emphasis it puts into being connected and culturally significant. In this endless struggle, young adults eighteen to twenty-five years of age cross many boundaries and test the limits they have long been warned of. What does it take to send a clear message, but without having the audience experience life-shattering consequences first-hand for themselves? “PSA Texting While Driving UK AD [HD]” directed by Peter Watkins- Hughes speaks to young adults on many levels all at once in a short span, with a strong attention to detail that ranges from how the actors are portrayed to the lesser details that still draw the eye and make the audience wonder about safety. In connecting these young adults to the video, Watkins- Hughes is able to direct his viewers’ attention to the actions made by the actors, and the to question those actions for that next time the viewers find themselves in a car. By helping them cultivate the right actions and habits earlier in life, this PSA is raising everyone’s security in the future. When the viewers are presented with three eighteen-year-old girls chatting away and driving they will instantly become reminiscent of a similar car ride they experienced with similar moods and actions. Therefore the young adults will connect on a personally significant level to what Watkins- Hughes conveys as well as bond emotionally with the girls in the video. The driver Cassie and her two passengers Em and Jules are engaged in a typical conversation regarding a crush on a particular boy. Cassie says, ”My mate Jules fancies you” (Watkins- Hughes) in a drawn-out exaggerated tone but she slightly alters the text message she is typing to, “My mate fancies u x” (Watkins- Hughes). While Jules is in the backseat rolling her eyes, she is also leaning forward over Cassie’s shoulder making sure that she is texting James,

Every day we witness multiple tragic accidents involving people texting and driving. In my paper I will be arguing that the state of Minnesota should act boldly to create tougher laws on texting and driving offenders, and also create laws to ban people from using hands-free cell phones in their vehicle unless needed for an emergency. Also it is to be determined the meaning of texting and driving, the people involved, the laws needed to enforce it, which is affected when someone is injured or killed; and what is being done about it.…

Many consider that texting while driving can be very dangerous. They say that roads aren’t safe when driver’s text and drive. But in reality there wouldn’t be a difference in roads if the ban of texting while driving was enacted. In my opinion I don’t think texting while driving should be banned. I disagree with the whole concept of it. Banning texting while driving would be pointless, hard to enforce, and it isn’t the cause of increase in car accidents.…

Five years ago on a bright June day, then-20- year-old Amanda Kloehr went about her usual cell phone routine: "Updating my Facebook status, reading other people's updates, and texting," she says. But she wasn't at home or even in class—she was behind the wheel of her car, cruising down U.S. Route 13 at a highway speed. Amanda couldn't have known that moments later her distracted driving would cause her to slam into the tractor-trailer in front of her with enough force to push the entire vehicle forward six feet. "I shouldn't have lived," she says now, still shaken. "I could have been decapitated."Instead, Amanda lost her right eye. It took 36 plates and 48 screws to rebuild her face. And more than 20 surgeries later, the road to recovery still stretches out before her. "I'm in pain everywhere all the time," she says, "but I know I'm lucky to be alive." This story comes from www.teenvogue.com. Is it really worth? Texting while driving is quickly becoming one of the countries most top killers . Many teens don't realize that texting and driving is dangerous, but it is. How big is this problem? “In 2011, 23% of the car accidents were caused from texting and driving. That is 1.3 million crashes.” according to www.textinganddrvingsaftey.com. Many believe that its becoming more of a habit for adults than for teens. Adults maybe the cause of why some teens do it. Kids watch their parents and the they think its safe cause if their parents can do it then it must be. They should be role models. The thing is they all know its wrong but it doesn't seem to stop them.…

I do support in the fact that texting a driving should be considered illegal, mainly for the soul purpose that many people die because of the distractions on the road that your phone can cause. “In the past three years alone, 30 states have banned texting while driving, the only state that has not done it yet is Oklahoma.” (Delcour 2) You see on the news that there are many teenagers now a days that get into car accident why? BECAUSE THEY WERE TEXTING AND DRIVING! “Last year, despite assurance by S.C. lawmakers that a texting ban would be passed, obviously it died without coming up for a final vote.”(EDITORIAL 6) I know people who try to text and drive but we always remind them that there are other people in this care ad unless they want the guilt of their friends death due to their carelessness then that’s up to them. When I get behind the wheel of a car I turn my phone to silent and I don’t turn it back up until I that car is stopped and I get out of that car, I don’t sit there at a red light or a stop sign reading text messages or taking calls while I’m behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. It is unsafe to not only you but the people in your car, and the people outside of your car as well like other drivers, pedestrians, animals, etc. I think that if it were to become illegal then it should not only have one ticket for texting while driving but also another one for being stupid to put yourself and other in a dangerous risk of dying or getting seriously hurt. “Fifty-eight percent of those under 45 say texting while driving should be punished less severely than driving while intoxicated, while 65 percent of those over 45 say the severity of the punishment should be equal for both.” (CBS 6) I am still kind of a new driver myself but I do know how to stay safe on the road from anything that may distract me and end up causing a lot of damage.…

People should be cited for texting while driving because not only are drivers putting themselves in danger but also everyone else around them. Statistics have indicated that over 6,000 deaths and well over half a million injuries have occurred due to drivers using cell phones in 2011 alone. Drivers sending or receiving test messages take their eyes off of the road for at least five seconds which is enough time to cover an entire football field. One could only imagine the tremendous amount of damage that can be done driving across a football field with unopened eyes. “The more cognitive workload capacity that you consume, the less likely it is that you’re going to scan the road” (Romoser, 14). People tend to lose focus on what they are actually supposed to be doing while driving and using cell phones. People as a whole can be pretty selfish and often worry only of themselves. Drivers should be cited for texting while driving to ensure the safety of all drivers on the roads and highways.…
