Ps I Love You2
1: P.S I love you

2: P.S I love you is a love story by the Irish author Cecelia Ahern. P.S I love you was actually her first novel, and since then she have been publishing several books. The book was published in 2004 and were a mager hit in Ireland, the United Kingdom, USA, Germany ect ect. The book was so popular that they in 2007 decided to turn the book into a movie.

3: The main character in the book is Holly Kennedy. She is a beautiful and smart girl from Ireland who is married to the love of her life, passionate and funny Gerry Kennedy from Ireland. When Gerry's life is taken by an illness, Holly is left alone, devastated. Therefor it's a good thing he planned ahead and wrote Holly a series of letters that guided her to rediscovering herself. In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You. With Gerry's words as her guide, Holly embarks on a journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into a new beginning for life. This is also the books theme.

4: Its not described by a date when the story takes place, but since the environment are described as quite modern, I assume its present time.
I think the language is quite easy to read and to understand as well. The story doesn’t have a lot of dialogue, doe to the fact that Holly spends most of her time alone.

5: The story is told in first person, Holly as the main character tell the story by herself. There aren’t many exciting parts, but there are several parts when you find yourself laughing or sometimes crying. The author has found an incredibly good way to tell a story in a serious, but at the same time funny way. It’s defiantly one of the best girl books I’ve ever read, and will therefor recommend it to all of the girls.

Holly to me felt like your typical albeit spoiled teenager. While I could understand Holly's actions, I couldn't relate to her for the most part. That being said, I did like how she was able to eventually open up to her colleagues at Project Scrooge. And I did enjoy the twist at the end regarding the latest "Scrooge". I also appreciated the fact that while there is some "romance" in the book it doesn't play out in the typical way which I found refreshing for once.…

The book doesn’t really have a strong meaning or plot because it just goes on about Holly and Paul’s conversations and the world that Holly interprets within her mind. Paul Varjak is a man who has just moved into Holly’s building and she builds an intriguing interest in him. They soon get to know each other after she spends a night in his apartment and they talk more. He is invited to a huge party she was throwing and discovers her personality through the minds of everyone else’s point of view. This novel describes this character, Holly, as a socialite who is taking on the meaning of life in a different way. “It’s better to look at the sky than live there. Such an empty place; so vague. Just a country where the thunder goes and things disappear.” (17), was spoken by Holly when she was talking to Paul about the simplicity of life and how it is. They usually had conversations within that matter because Holly liked to share her thoughts on that, and it is what Paul seemed to be intrigued by with Holly.…

P.S. I Love You is a story of how Holly reacts to losing her husband, how her life is affected by it and in what way she could go on with living. There is an interesting story to tell. However the telling or showing of it is affected by lack of connection between certain events and episodes. One of these is the abrupt cut between the introductory quarrelling scene of husband and wife, jumping to the vigil sequence for Gerry who has passed on. Kathy Bates and Gerard Butler made convincing characters of Elizabeth the mother, and Gerry. Hilary Swank was somewhat lackluster as Holly, perhaps because this is a role she is not familiar with. Somehow, the movie is not as moving as it could have been.…
