Since GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) were first introduced in 1973, they have quickly taken over the agricultural industry; about 70% of all crops are GM products. However, with the rise of GMOs on the market, there has been a sharp increase of backlash over these products. This backlash is due to the misinformed public that made them ban or have heavy restrictions on GM products in most countries. However, if the public was to become informed about the effects of GMOs, the will be able understand what they do and how to reap the benefits from them. There has been heavy research done on GMOs to prove that they are completely safe to consume. In addition GMOs are one of the most tested products in history. The United States require GMOs to go through about 7-10 years of testing before they can be sold to the public. They products are normally tests to see if they will have any risk to animals, humans, or the environment, if they will cause allergic reactions, if they cause any other effects. In these countries, many victims of vitamin A deficiency are children; since they lack the essential vitamin A, many fall victim to childhood blindness.
