Pros and Cons of the 12-year Compulsory Education in Taiwan
The issue of 12-year compulsory education in Taiwan is a big educational reform and it has been widely argued in the academic field during these years. Since we are students from 9-year compulsory education system, in this proposal we would like to analyze the pros and cons of the 12-year compulsory education in an objective perspective.
Since everyone knows that education plays a very important role in today’s society, this research is going to be objective and the audiences can be the general public in order to make everyone understand the matter of new learning trend nowadays. In the whole research, we are mainly work for three groups who are directly related to the issue to investigate and analyze: Educators, parents and students themselves. The policy objectives of the 12-year compulsory education are: Raising nationals' quality, improving national competitiveness; Promoting equal educational opportunities, realizing social justice; Easing pressure from seeking further education, guiding students to develop according to their disposition; Narrowing gap between city and country, decreasing educational gap. People cannot deny that all the problems above exist and influence our society or even the Taiwanese economy; however, the masses have query regarding the tangible efficiency from the new educational policy, the potential impact of the 12-year compulsory education system, etc.
Accordingly, we aim to analyze advantages and drawbacks of 12-year compulsory education through (1) the feasibility and impact of the policy objectives. (2) Opinions from educators, parents and students. (3) Integration of other people's opinions.
