When the average person think of the word hoarding, they think of a house filled with trash, newspapers, and canned foods or of a yard filled with junk and/or animals. What the average person does not automatically think of are corporations stockpiling their cash. Corporate cash hoarding is real and it is a common practice of some of the top corporations in the United States. As the focus shifts to corporate hoarding, the images shift in the mind of the average person as well. Images such as, CEOs stashing cash under their mattresses, offshore bank vaults filled with millions of dollars or a barge carrying gold bars on its way to a foreign country.…

    Pros And Cons Of Pluto

    • 596 Words
    • 3 Pages

I believe that the International Astronomical union is wrong to believe that Pluto no longer deserves the designation of a planet. I even disagree with the definition of what a planet should be, and after doing a little bit of research, I have found that only four percent of IAU members were actually present for the vote. They chose to vote on the day that most of the members were catching a flight home. Kind of fishy if you ask me. After over 80 years of being a planet, and in just one night it was demoted. If you hear the term dwarf star or dwarf galaxy, they are still considered stars and galaxies, but for some reason, dwarf planets cannot be considered planets (DeBenedicts 2015). That makes a lot of sense… “I thought it was really dumb that the IAU took as a category ‘swarf planet’ and then said: ‘But they’re not a planets,” astronomer Owen Gingerich said. “I think this is an abuse of the language.” (Yuhas 2015).…

A war needs tension beforehand. The first major crisis was the Moroccan crisis of 1905. Germany jealous of the nations around them wanted to build themselves an empire. When South Morocco (now Western Sahara) was up for grabs Germany wanted to take it. France also wanted Morocco. When Germany could not get Morocco they supported independence. This made Britain and France aggravated. The tension was building. A nearly parallel crisis happened in 1911 but this time France gained Morocco and Germany was given compensation land. A war did not break out because Germany was outnumbered two to one. Between these two crises the Balkans crisis of 1908 was sandwiched. It again created more tension. Bosnia and Herzegovina is taken by Austria-Hungary. Russia is not pleased by this and protests. Russia is outnumbered and does not start a war. The past crises made the war possible; just the right opportunity was needed to make the war…

October 5, 1957; this is the day that went down in history as the day the Space Race between the United States and the USSR began. On this day the USSR successfully launched the Sputnik satellite into orbit around the planet. Close to a month later the USSR launched the Sputnik 2 which held the first living organism to orbit the planet; Laika the dog. The series of events that followed brought change to the Cold War and to the world that could not have been foreseen in terms of international relations. During the Cold War the balance of power, globalization, perception, and nationalism all came into question, especially looking at the effects of the Space Race.…

    Why Is Recycling Bad

    • 256 Words
    • 2 Pages

I think recycling is a good thing because if you take your trash to a landfill it'll just sit there for years. But if you recycle your cans and things like that you can just reuse them. But I also think recycling is bad because you don't know where the can came from and you don't know where it's been sitting, or how long it's been sitting there.…

Space exploration Space exploration is one the most compelling problems that we face today and you might think that it is overrated and does not need that much attention, but you are wrong. Some people think that space exploration is a waste of money and resources, the time wasted in such field should have been used in other important stuff such as ending poverty, solving the worldwide economic crisis and trying to end global warming. While other people support space exploration and may sacrifice their lives just to feed their need for science, they think there is not any boundary for exploring space, it has provided us with many amazing discoveries and solved a huge amount of mysteries that helped us in our daily lives by saving time, creating…

In the history of the world there are many occurrences that have changed life and the world, as we know it. The history of conflicts in the world is just as long as the histories of man have bee recorded. From the beginning the human species survived off of conflict (between various predators and the environment) and has been nourished by the fruits of war since before the rise of the Roman Empire. World conquest has been the goal of many great generals and a great many Kings. Through the years there were many conflicts that were thought to be the worst that ever was and the worst that would ever be (World War I in particular). World war two is said to be the war to end all wars, because of the leaders, the technology, and the effects the war had on the world.…

What was God's purpose in creating the world, creating us, and creating the space that the world exists in? There is no doubt that God created everything we see around us, and even the things we cannot see, he created them all. Colossians 1:16 says, "For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible...everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him." God also created human beings in his image, and sent us out into all the world making disciples of all nations. But God also has another purpose for humans, as can be seen in Revelation 4:11b which says, "You created everything, and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created!" God takes pleasure in us, and he takes pleasure in his creation. On the seventh day, he surveyed all that he had created and said "it is good." If God says his creation is good, and takes pleasure in it, then it is the truth. It is our (human beings) interaction with that creation that is called the cultural mandate.…
