Proposed Automated Grading System
CHAPTER I
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
In this chapter, the proponents discuss the statement of the problem, the objective of the study, the hypothesis or the assumptions, the significance of the study, and its scope and limitations.
INTRODUCTION
Student academic record is an area of the registrar’s office functions. These include student’s personal information, official grades, original admission documents, grade changes and incomplete grade remarks. The registrar’s office is responsible in keeping these records secure and accessible. This is because, these records serves as basis in producing student credentials like class cards and transcript of records. Also, instructors has a big contribution when it comes to student’s academic records. Grading software is a tool that helps instructors. Some of them use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to calculate grades while others use software packages designed for broader classroom applications. No matter what product is used, judicious use of such software provide instructor with a good partner in delivering quality education.
Automated systems are totally affected by the rapidly changing technology. Neither a fad nor simply a tool, technology has become a fundamental force shaping the future. This affects the traditional ways in which people access and use information.
With a good grade recording and monitoring system, students know where they stand in the course. They get an earlier warning about developing problems and better remediation. The instructor and the registrar will be benefited when it comes in recording the academic grades and keeping the records updated.
With this in mind, the proponents propose an Automated Student’s Academic Recording and Monitoring System for AMA Computer Learning Center. 1

The grade of a student is a scale which determines students who need more improvement and require more assistance which will help teachers in guiding them towards their development. It also shows where students excel most so they can be honed and encouraged to continue their good work, improve more, and aim higher. At the end, it will be the reference for the judgment of whether a student can step up to a higher level of learning or remain to be polished. From these reasons, it is clearly concluded how important it is to make sure that the grades of the students are accurately calculated and safely stored in a well-founded database.…
