Proofreading is a crucial step in the writing process. The first impression made by the reader helps determine if the is worth continuing. English Teacher Geoffrey Philip adds, “I’m looking for how many more mistakes you are going to make? I’m now correcting for mistakes.” The importance of proofreading to catch grammar and spelling mistakes is stressed in video 5. Repetition is an error commonly missed while proofing. When a paper is proofread, repeated words may be glanced over without being noticed. Sue Grafton, a Mystery Novelist, shares an example of frequently using the word “anyway” while writing.
