Prom Night
Prom Night
Next to our wedding date the most important thing that a young women looks forward to is their senior prom. Prom is the most important thing to any high school student. You will plan months in advance and spend hundreds of dollars for somehing that will last only four hours, but it will be the best four hours you will have ever intevested in. Prom is not just a dance, but the last event you and your graduating class will ever share. Prom will forever have a lifelong impact on your life. My prom turned out to be the one of the greatest moments in my senior year.
I never went to a single formal dance until my senior year. On nights when there was a military ball, winter formal, or a junior prom, my friends would get all dressed up and ready to dance in their beautiful gowns. While they were dancing wih their dates, I was at home watching T.V. It's not that I had trouble finding a date of my own, but just the thought of finances and time management bothers me. I knew I had to go to my senior prom, because i would regret it later on in life.
It was a month away and my dream prom was turning out to be a failure. I had to change all my plans and start from the beginning. I first started out by googling prom dresses in my area so it would be delivered on time. After spending about two hours looking at hundreds of possibilities, I came upon one that I couldnt let go. It was a gorgeous white ball gown dress. At the top it was embellished with crystal sequins, and right below the bust it flared like a Cinderella ball gown. It's a feeling that's hard to describe, but you know when a dress is the dress.
With my major priority out the way, I focused on the shoes, jewelry, makeup, and etc. The shoes were the longest process compared to everything else. First, I had to find the right heel height. Then I had to decide what color I wanted. A week before my prom, I finally found the perfect shoes. It had a four-inch platform bottom embellished with crystal sequins,

When I turned fourteen, I had a long talk with my parents about my big day only being a year away and how we needed to start with all of the preparations. The first thing I look for was my dress. In my vision, it was the most beautiful, shiny, and spongy dress. I wanted to be a princess for a day. One day after school my older sister, Carolina, had a magazine with prom dresses in it. Since she was a senior, she was on the looking for a dress too. As we saw the magazine, we found a lot of pretty dresses and told my mom to take us shopping, so that Carolina could try some on. As we arrived to the store "Glitz and Glamour", we found out they sold quinceañera dresses as well. My mom asked the employee to bring us some quinceañera dress magazines, while Caro and I watched the magazines for prom dresses. Suddenly, I stumbled upon a beautiful, green, shiny dress. It was perfect. As soon as I saw it, I said, "Mom, I want this dress for my quinceañera." We told the lady that I wanted the dress and she explained that it was available in pink and green. Since I had fallen in love with the color, I told my mom I wanted it in green, but since the tradition is pink, it was obvious that my mom was going to say no. I disagreed with my mom and ordered it green. The lady told us that my dress would arrive in four days. I was…

Back in summer of 2014 all of our friends were so excited for the new year. We were going to be in 8th grade, at the top of the food chain at our Junior High. Not only were we excited about all the different things we were going to be able to do as 8th grader, like take chinese or year round spanish if you're into that. But what we were focusing on the eye of the prize, the 8th grade dance. The best part about this dance was that it wasn’t any ordinary dance, everyone had to be dressed up in nice clothes or otherwise they would be asked to leave. This…

With two months left I had yet to choose who I wanted to participate in my court of honor. I decided to go with twelve of my closest friends, 6 girls and 6 guys. They were to accompany me on my special day, and dance a waltz with me which we were taught by a professional dance instructor. A black tux with a coral tie was worn by the guys expect my main escort; he wore a white tux with a coral tie to stand out alongside with me. For the girls, they wore a formal, coral, long dress.…

As im walking down the runway I do not realize my “dress” is starting to slip off slowly. When I suddenly start to feel a slight breeze I realize that my dress is falling off. I start to sprint to the bathroom, trying to hold my dress up and my eyes burning with tears of embarrassment. I just collapse on the bathroom floor and sit there in my messed up outfit and my wet tears. I am sobbing like a little baby and that is when Kennedy and Brooklyn come into the stall and ask me what happened. I told them how my “dress” fell off and how I thought my life was over.…

Upon joining my sorority earlier this semester I never would have thought I would be dancing and making a fool out of myself in front of hundreds of people on Green Street. Here I was though on November 1st, after practicing for at most three days with the other girls and Hockey team, ready to get on stage. My grand big is a dance major so she convinced me to join the Spurs and Struts team because they did not have enough people and I have a hard time saying no. This performance ended up being one of the scariest, but most fun experiences I have ever had. During Spurs and Struts I had lost my dance partner last minute so I had to dance a part alone. Also, I could not grab my rally towel that was tucked in my leggings so that was embarrassing…

It all began with shopping. First with my girlfriends over the years, goofing off on trips to the mall trying on gorgeous flowing gowns for fun, and then it was finally time for me to buy one, finally a formal occasion where I got to dress up in a fancy gown with high heels, my Mom took me to the mall. Even though it wasn’t quite prom, it was still a formal dance, a celebration of completing middle school and entering into high school. While I shopped with my Mom I could sense her excitement for me. It was exciting and special for her to see her little girl growing up. We shopped and shopped, I must’ve tried on a hundred dresses until I found the perfect one. It was pink with tiny embroidered flowers all over. I completed my look with strappy silver heels, silver jewelry and a hand bag.…

Coming into high school ready to have the time of my life was a little over rated. I was 14 turning 15 and was not interested in much and now needing to have an answer to those inevitable questions What college are you going too? or What career are you planning to pursue? All of these questions put an immense weight in my shoulders and the only thing on my mind back then was whether or not I will be able to afford the latest Call Of Duty title. Up to that point I had not thought of what I was going to do. On top of that I was quickly losing all of my middle school pals until I figured it all out. Adulthood was just around the corner and I could not be worried about these people no more. I had to grow up and not impress the people around…

I arrived to a church crowded with friends and family. So many people had gone to St. John’s Cathedral to witness the simple, yet elegant, tradition. There were also relatives from Mexico and Puerto Rico who took the long tiring trip to attend. I was honored to see so many people there on my special day. My court of honor led the way into the church. When it was my turn to walk down the aisle, soft music was played by the organist. I felt like a princess walking in my big, beautiful ball gown. My gown was similar to a wedding dress except it was a pastel pink. When the ceremony started it was nerve racking. I was thinking about my hair and people staring at me from behind, and hoping my tiara or…

As children we all have dreams, goals, and aspirations of being someone or something great. We are taught that the sky is the limit, but as we grow up we learn that there are footprints on the moon, that’s why I feel nothing is impossible. When I was younger I was undecided on what I wanted to be; a policeman, fireman, or maybe even a doctor but growing up and now seeing how the world works I’ve decided that I wanted to be a cooperate lawyer.…
