INFORMATION SYSTEM PROJECT PROPOSAL What is a Project Proposal? It is a document to gain proposed project’s approval from the adviser that discusses openly the project problem, how project will be exactly executed, and spells out in precise detail the resources-both personal and instrumental that the proponent has available for producing the proposal results.

What is the general purpose of writing a Project Proposal? To suggest the new ways to respond to problems and address opportunities of specific sector / discipline, or to suggest specific solutions/alternatives to identified problems/ opportunities / directives through the development of computer-based information system. Characteristics of a Project Proposal • • • A proposal is a straightforward document (no irrelevant/ unrelated matter) A proposal is not a literary production (precise expression, not a verbal extravagance) A proposal is clearly organized.

The Project Proposal The proposal must clearly explain: • • • • • What you are doing? Why you are doing it? What is new about your project? What is the significance of your project? How you plan to accomplish your aims?

The proposal should include: • Critical review of previous related works (researches/projects/products) • Specific aims • Plan of attack (how you plan to accomplish your aims) • Realistic schedule / list of deliverables • Discussion of any foreseeable difficulties and how you plan to overcome them • Bibliography The outline of the proposal must be organized as follows: a) Project Summary Page (front page) b) Motivation c) Previous Work (Preliminary Review of Related Literature and Studies) or Related Systems/ Software available in the Market d) Specific Aims

Project Summary Page (front page) Include the following summary information: 1. Project title 2. Investigator name, contact numbers, and email address 3. Brief 1-3 sentence project description describing the



Bibliography: • List (in proper bibliographic form) all references used Schedule/ Deliverables • List a timeline of major steps toward completing your project Project Proposal Report • Be sure that your Project Proposal is complete & printed in 8 ½ x 11 inch bond paper with 1 inch margin on all sides and the texts are encoded using Times New Roman of size 12 in single space.
