Project Lead The Way: Student Analysis
When influencing change, small acts of kindness and truth can be more impactful than forcing change to occur. One of the biggest parts of my senior year has been advocating positive change within our school. Throughout my high school career, I have been able to grow from my peers but as a senior I became a leader as a student rather than as National Honor Society President. Having the ability to teach others and influence them is one of my biggest character traits. Numerous times I have stayed after tutoring or helped a struggling student in my honors science classes. In fact, Project Lead the Way has influenced me to understand concepts rather than simply memorizing their meaning. The ability to teach others will influence me to fully comprehend concepts outside of the classroom and discuss them with classmates in order to further everyone’s understanding. During my senior year there have been many complications within the school. With a rising …show more content…
Consistently, seniors have told me that they cannot participate due to other activities or they are simply too busy. One of the biggest learning curves of my senior year has been telling my peers to succeed beyond the time constraints they feel. Many of them view graduation as their final goal and simply give up on their school and community. Most of this involvement is through the responsibilities of president such as delegating tasks and ensuring that the projects are completed. Yet, the biggest impacts have been from talking to students who feel discouraged by the hardships they face. Through National Honor Society I can inspire seniors to maintain involvement and encourage as sense of community within our school. From the smallest contributions to uttermost devotion I am proud of the seniors who attempt to try everyday and be there for their

Being a member of Best Buddies and SAVE, I demonstrate a strong sense of dedication for supporting others and lending a helping hand. The goals of both Best Buddies and SAVE are to further acceptance, embrace diversity, promote safety in schools, and spreading positive energy. As a student representative, my sole objective would be to help enlighten the school board and those in the community about the daily life at MHS, advocate for the 1,600 students currently attending, and respectively relay any helpful amendments that would benefit the Mukwonago Area School District. The multiple clubs I participate in and the copious amounts of friendships I developed with people that have contrasting passions also allow me to speak on behalf of a relatively large group of students. The students taking part in the same activities that I belong to range from freshman to seniors. The opinions of a freshman compared to that of a senior’s may vary drastically, and being a part of clubs with a sample of each year will give me an advantage to hear an assortment of…

I am interested in running for the position of Secretary of the National Honor Society so that I can assist the President and Vice President in making our school a better place. We, as members of this prestigious group, have the duty to involve Saucon Valley as a whole in order to do community service for the benefit of all. As Secretary, I plan to amp up the school spirit here at Saucon so that every individual student feels included and motivated to better our school and our community. For example, the blood drive that NHS hosts every year can become a schoolwide effort with a little more enthusiasm. In previous years, many underclassmen ignore the blood drive completely because of their age and thus, their inability to donate blood. But if we were to make the event more “fun” as a whole, we could encourage students to get the word out to their parents, neighbors, or friends to get involved and donate their blood to those who need it. And by “fun”, I imply decorations throughout the school, exaggerated morning announcements, offers of food, anything that will get the student body excited to share their blood!…

I haven’t been involved with ME to WE but I have been included in other community/school events. I went to the ‘YRDSB OUR VOICE: THE WAY FORWARD’ conference. This conference was very beneficial because it was a student-lead conference. It allowed us, students to use our voice and speak up. At the conference, I realized how important it is to use your voice in a positive way to help people. You don’t only need to use your voice; you can get your message out in any way, media, arts or verbally. I learned that student voice is important because, we are the ones who are the future to making our world a better place. When I went back to school, after the conference, I had a tiny activity planned with my class about bullying and speaking up. With my teacher’s permission, I explained the activity to my class and they did the activity. Even though there were 2 months left of school, I could see that my classmates were starting to speak up. Even though I only had an impact on my class, it’s better than nothing.…

I want to be a member of the Heritage Grove Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society because it is a great opportunity to learn new aspects, and share my ideas and interests with my peers. I believe in education and the opportunities it can bring. My family has always pushed me to do my best in and outside of school. I have maintained a 5.0 gpa along with a perfect attendance record. I have also been awarded with the President’s Education Awards Program. I have respect for school and I show my loyalty by putting in a 150% focus everyday. I do my best to keep a good balance between academics and extracurricular activities. First and foremost, I have given up much of my personal time to help my community. The past three summers I have volunteered for over eighty hours at St. Rita’s Medical Center here in Lima. For many, this may not sound like a lot but for a teenager to give up part of their summer to help others is a big deal. Volunteering not only takes the will to work but it also takes passion, compassion, and knowledge to follow through with the tasks given to you throughout the day. My eighty hours shows I have all three of these things. I have helped my school by being an excellent scholar and never giving it a horrendous name. I have achieved being an honor student throughout the past three years that I have attended BHS and have always shown pride when representing my school during numerous events. I am always willing to help my teachers when needed, they may be there to teach us but they are also there to learn from us in certain ways. My fellow classmates I do believe would say I am always willing to help them out when I am needed. I would like to organize volunteer time at our local soup kitchen and hospitals, numerous food and clothing drives, and also help with the annual blood drive. All of these things will help our community out in different ways, which will bring good to our fellow people.…

There is not a single feeling greater than the one you experience when you make a positive impact on someone else’s life. Thankfully, I was able to experience that in my junior year. My high school has a program called Link Crew that is designed to help alleviate the anxiety of freshmen’s transition in to high school. When I signed up to get involved, I never realized how strongly it would affect not only my life, but also the life of everyone else who came in contact with it one way or another. Junior year was my first year involved in the program. At first, I was not sure if I would be able to handle it because it was a club that required a large time commitment. I was already involved in my advisory board, student council, and also I had been on the varsity softball team for both years prior to my junior year, along with working anywhere from three to five days a week. It was a very busy time in my life for a while, but I soon came to realize that Link Crew was completely worth it once I started seeing the effect it had on my school.…

There are many ways one may contribute to their society. Some people may use their intelligence in order to advance society; some may lead the country to a better future; some may make the world a better place just by being in it; and some may volunteer their time to help others. It is difficult to find one person who possesses and contributes all of these qualities, but I am sure that I do. Because the standards for entrance into the National Honor Society are scholarship, leadership, character, and service, I believe that I am more than qualified for entrance into an organization as prestigious as the National Honor Society. Throughout my years as a Delaware Valley High School student, I believe that I have demonstrated all of these attributes.…

All throughout school I have participated in many clubs and organizations that have not only molded me as a person, but have helped me to develop responsibility, and leadership skills. Currently I am an active member of National Honor Society, and DECA. Both of these organizations, provided by my high school, encourage leadership, volunteer work, and have high expectations for behavior, and grades. Being in National Honor Society has shown me to continually do for others in need. There are always opportunities to get involved with the community, and even create drives for things like stuffed animals, and blankets for children who are sick in the hospital, and “Care Catties” for cancer patients, which include tissues, water bottles, hard candy, and lotion. DECA is another organization I am involved in at Frenship High School. DECA is a business organization for high school marketing students looking to learn, develop and compete in a competitive event. I have been a member since my sophomore…

My participation in Student Government has taught me important leadership skills I will be able to carry with me throughout, not only my college career, but my nursing career. Sports has taught me that hard work, discipline, and teamwork will not only defeat any obstacle that comes my way, but with the help and encouragement of others, we can come together as one and get the job done. My extracurricular activities have taught me that with the aid of others anything is possible. Through my community service volunteering at a local housing company for the mentally disabled, I have seen first-hand what the impact one person can make on another’s life. Helping and mentoring the mentally disabled who can’t do some tasks on their own has touched my heart and changed the way I appreciate life in many different aspects. It just reminds me of how fortunate I am to be able to help other, despite the time it takes to do so. The overall time I have sacrificed to do these extracurricular activities inside and outside of school has all been well worth it. Overall, the life lessons I have learned and the change in character I have gained from these activities are gifts I will be able to carry with me in able to achieve my goal.…
