Project 4031 Reflection
Knowledge goal 1 had to be learned throughout my internship here at Project 4031. I had to observe a handful of conversations between employees during meetings, and observing many phone conversations. All the clients of project 4031 are terminally ill and it can be sad at times but their job is very rewarding. Project 4031 never gets to be go to the dreams of the clients, but makes them happen either over the phone or online. This is the only goal where I thought things could get a bit difficult. I say this because in order to get funding or a dream from Project 4031 you must have a prognosis of six months or less. Most of our referrals come from hospice centers, and when they do we do not have to ask for documentation of the prognosis. Now

The term learning to me means that we are acquiring knowledge for something we did not know or a new way of doing something. I think online learning is different than traditional because online learning is more of independent studies and can be easier or more difficult to manage depending on each person's learning styles. My view of learning as only changed by knowing more learning styles and how they can vary in technical terms.…

One advantage of Activity-Based Costing system is it has more accurate overhead cost allocation because there are more cost pools, the costs in each pool are more similar, and allocation is based on activities that cause overhead costs. It is more effective overhead cost control by focusing on processes or activities and focuses on relevant factors by assigning costs to any cost object that is of interest to management. Lastly, it allows better management of activities by helping managers identify the causes of costs and the activities driving them. The disadvantages of Activity-Based Costing are its cost to implement and maintain ABC requires management commitment and financial resources and its uncertainty with decisions remain and management must interpret ABC data with caution in making managerial decisions.…

Hope is a long term healthcare facility that is currently accommodates 100 residents. Our mission is to provide high quality long term care; therefore it’s important to deal with the issues that won’t allow us to achieve our mission. As a human resource manager I would like to elaborate a few critical problems we are facing. It has been a while that hiring and retaining qualified staff remained an ongoing challenge. Our annual turnover rate is 40 percent. In addition we are dealing with aging workforce in our facility. Those with five or more years experience are 55 age and older are complaining about the high workload that is beyond their abilities.…

Hospice can be described as a philosophy of care that focuses on the palliation of a terminally ill patient’s symptoms while providing emotional and spiritual support for them and their family (Meirer, McCormick, & Lagman, 2015). The hospice model of care focuses on improving quality of life rather than prolonging it, and holistically embraces the principles of dying with comfort and dignity. This model uses an interdisciplinary team to develop an individualized plan of care that addresses all aspects of care and is based on the patient’s goals and cultural values (Meirer, McCormick, & Lagman,…

ENGL 202 was a tremendous experience for my second quarter at Humphrey's University. I feel that I have benefited from the knowledge gained from the course and learned vastly to working and analyzing not only my own writings but also with other writings. In the beginning of this course, we have learned how to specifically understand how a well-versed paper can be defined and what it is not. The first essay that we analyzed was based off a concerned parent to beauty pageants for children under 10 years of age. We first analyzed her topic and learned that while it is a concerning issue, her essay was no more than a simple rant that lacks research and specific data that would be relevant to her essay. From there we analyzed other topics that, while they were well-researched topics, they had specific “holes” in them that affected their credibility, such as a lack of authority towards the author or missing valuable research. One in particular was to an author that relied on emotion for being against the death penalty. These helped us to analyze essays better and to learn what not to do in a research assignment. This next element of…

I was able to learn about the importance of effective medical education and communication with my patients through creating nutrition materials on the different food groups and chronic ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart attacks as well as consulting with patients weekly to find out what they needed and desired to improve their health and how I could direct them to their needs. At Haven, I exchanged ideas with each of my patients on how they and their families can live healthier lives as I learned about their diverse lives and tried to make sense of it for them and others. Haven taught me how to become an effective listener, a fast learner, and an effective deliberator within a healthcare setting and serves as the foundation of those skills in my upcoming medical…
