Muslims have played a huge part in the worlds history. Some of the great contributions that impacted the world is, field of medicine, mathematics, and art. Those three things are some of the important things that influenced the world and influence the world.

One accomplishment the muslims had was the field of medicine. As stated in the text, “Physician al-Razi’s wrote a medical reference encyclopedia, the Comprehensive Book and Treats on Smallpox and Measles.” (Document 3). In Islamic hospitals there was facility similar to today’s emergency rooms, where the injured people could get the treatment they need. Muslims were able to make such great contributions because of their knowledge from the ancient Greeks when they developed their medical field and references. Their advancements impacted the ancient world and todays world.

Their other contribution is mathematics. Math came with the help of Al-Kwarizmi’s textbook on algebra. as in the text, “Al-Kwarizmi, a Muslim mathematician, studied Indian sources and wrote a textbook in the 800’s about al-jabr (the Arabic word for algebra), which was later translated into latin and used throughout Europe.” (Document 4). The Arabic numerals were adopted from the Indians used in the place value system. The people in today’s history use the place value system, thank the Indians and ancient Greeks.

Art and literature was a great contribution. As stated in the text, “City boasted 37 libraries, numberless bookstores, 800 public schools… and a total population of 300,000.” (Document 2).
