Nursing is a profession focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities to attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life. Professionalism, and Patient and Family Centered Care are important concepts in professional nursing. This paper will identify the roles and functions of the professional nurse in the health care delivery system. Also, how these concepts incorporate in future nursing practice and contribute to positive outcome.

Ethics and values is another attribute of professionalism, it is collecting information from various source and applying knowledge about nursing ethics to make or act on decisions.
