Professional Situation Analysis
When I was approached by my principal, Mr. Jones, I was shocked, embarrassed, and upset. Shocked, that they had actually read as well as they did, but knew that they both could. Their fluency scores were certainly not high, in comparison to many other second graders, but higher for them. Embarrassed, that my principal was put in a position to confront me about my approach to helping my daughters. He, being a father of three also, understands the frustrations, expectations, and responsibility we put upon ourselves as parents. He also knew about all of my ongoing frustrations and concerns my husband and I have dealt with in trying to best meet our daughter’s learning needs at Trail Wind. As my boss, a professional, and colleague, he was …show more content…
I am not happy about receiving a reprimand in my professional file either, but rest assured, I will continue to meet my professional demands as an educator with 110%, as I have always demonstrated and expected of myself, and it certainly will not happen again. I will also continue to recognize the importance of building strong relationships with students and the important role these relationships play toward inspiring and motivating each student’s successes. I recognize that I have become a better, more effective and more compassionate teacher over the years. As I have witnessed, and been forced to deal with my own daughter’s struggles in school, I have become more understanding of student’s individual needs and approaches to learning. We can all achieve and succeed, but certainly not by always taking the same path or speed. I will continue to make the extra efforts to attend students’ sporting events, dance recitals, musical performances, high school and college graduations, and now weddings, on my own family time, because it matters to them! I will continue to strive to help each student understand

I don’t like the parents reaction in the Beth B case. While I agree and understand the parents want Beth to stay in the regular classroom as she has for the last three years, another facility offsite would perform a much better job meeting the needs that Beth requires. In the current situation at the 7th grade level, school officials claim that Beth follows along with the class using a modified curriculum. While Beth may be folowing the same subject matter that the class is learning, there is no relationship between what the class is learning to what Beth is learning. They are on two completely different levels.…

Hello, I am your daughter, Sabra's, English teacher. I wanted to take the time to enlighten you about her class room behavior and how disrespectful she can get towards me. Don't get me wrong, Sabra is not always discourteous. She has her days where she can be a model student in class and in others she can be my worst nightmare. For the last couple of weeks, Sabra has been coming to class to sleep. When I address her to wake up, she would give me an attitude or curse at me. She says marching band is the blame for her sleeping in class. If marching band is getting in the way of her education, I believe she should reconsider her choice about being in the band. I have informed you in the past about her poor grade in my class. It's as if she doesn't try to attempt and make an effort to do the material I present to the class. I would appreciate it if you have a talk with your daughter about her classroom etiquette and how to appreciate teaching staff on a day to day basis. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my letter and take into consideration the concerns I have with your daughter.…

It’s important to give a little background on the writer’s history. This is the end of my fourth year as an English teacher at Napavine Jr. Sr. High School. During my time here I have also served as the ASB advisor and as a class advisor. I transferred to Napavine because it is a small school and closer to my home. From 2004-2012, I was at a 2A high school with a population of 1,088 (grades 9-12), 56.2% low income, and a 32.9% minority population. Napavine is a 2B school with a population of 325 (grades 7-12), 39% low income and a 16.8% minority population . The principal, with whom I will be working, began as a Dean of Students during my first year in the building. He did not have his administrative credentials and worked with a mentor on…

I thought it was interesting that you mentioned the contrast and difference in the way your middle school PE teacher perform, and how your high school PE teacher performed. Growing up, I always thought that the PE teachers had the easiest job in the school, simply because they were able to stand there with a whistle and a clip board (glorified babysitting, I suppose). However, my idea on PE, and the correctness in how to guide our students has completely changed; there is so much that we can do that can help develop our students in a positive way (and negative way). I believe it is critical that school systems place a new focus on PE class, and make the necessary adjustments in order for the students to be involved in appropriate lessons, as…
