Dear Mr. Palazzi:

Greetings, I am Sthefany Young editor in chief of Cloud Nine Magazine, I would like to thank you for your poetry submission for Cloud Nine Magazine.

The poem “She Walks in Beauty” has been accepted. This poem is appropriate to Cloud Nine Magazine because this magazine relates to the audience who are in love with someone as well as people who are in a relationship with their loved one. This poem would attract a reader who is at the moment in love with someone and have no words to describe their love towards that one special person. The poem reveals the feelings of a man who is deeply in love with a woman; the way her expressions and body convey to what made this man fall in love. The man expresses his ingenuous love towards the woman and explains her innocent heart which is full of love. As I was reading the poem I was able to comprehend his true love towards this woman as he provided the poem with figurative language which gave me a mental illustration of the woman he loves. As well as the structure in which this poem was written; the poem has in order to describe the important aspects of this special woman. He gave details to the reasons in which made him fall in love with the woman and shows that this woman has this man in Cloud Nine.

I think that this poem is an excellent source to capture the attention of someone who is deeply in love with someone. The poem provides excellent description and allows for the reader to full understand the meaning of this poem. This poem makes the reader to think of that person they love and to fully admire the way that person is.

Sincerely yours,
Sthefany Young

In "Homage to My Hips", Lucille Clifton creates some kind of imagery pertaining to her hips. She seems all into herself, more specifically, her hips. She makes it a point to convey that her hips are strong or powerful by the lines "they go where they want to go. /they do what they want to do. /these hips are mighty." (9-11) She gets into how her hips are big and mighty, no one can hold them back, and how they can even seduce men.…

Two specific techniques are used to convey the idea of how the woman in the poem feels about her husband and how she expresses her feelings. These two techniques are rhyming and repetition. The use of rhyming gives the poem a flow to go by. Every last word of a line rhymes with the following last word to create a greater effect of what is being tried to say. The rhymed words give the poem an accent helping to capture the romanticism of the poem. Repetition is seen in the first three lines of the poem when the speaker says, "If ever." The use of these words over and over again show how the speaker feels that it is near impossible to find another love such as the one she has at the moment. These two techniques give the poem an atmosphere of true love and compassion.…

And very difficult to try and understand the tone and mood. So, although I wasn't able to find a whole bunch about the poem, I found it very interesting and enjoyed even looking up this poem further and reading about the author and what other people took from this poem. So overall, this poem is a very well written poem and the ideas are endless of what it could…

This is another old sappy love poem. Though this one is more about love at first sight and not saying goodbye to a love. It’s about innocent love. I like the rhythm of it. It goes with the flow and is easy to say. I think that an awesome thing to have in a poem. The whole poem is describing the girl’s face. Which is why I think it’s about love at first sight. When people fall in love at first sight, they see the eyes and the face first. Though love at first sight might not be real, it’s still beautiful when you read about it. I think poem really capture that feeling. I also like how it was written. When I first read it, I did not think it was a pre-20th century. Plus it’s very detail. There not really anything I don’t like about the poem. I’m sure there are some small things that are wrong with it, but I don’t see it. It is truly a well written poem. This poem is nice and light-hearted. That is all I really have to say about this…

Through their use of syntax, diction, rhyme, and meter, these poets portray love in a unique and personal manner that illicit specific emotions from the reader for a variety of possible reasons, which will be analyzed in this essay.…
