Professional Learning Community Analysis
The key to improving student success is to build an organization that is capable of meeting the same expectations asked of the students. The most important skills required for 21st century education consist of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. In order to provide these skills for students, teachers must pose the same skills. This course teaches the readers the importance of having a professional learning community also known as PLC in the school system. Having individuals that pair together for the greater good of the students can enhance the success of the students and organization. A professional learning community, also known as PLC, is a group of teachers that share their expertise, meets regularly, and collaborate to improve the academic performance of students and teaching skills. An article states, “In a school that is already using PLCs, the hiring team or the administration needs to make sure potential new hires can buy into the process.”(Lujan & Day 2009) Before offering positions to new hires the administration will need to address the three guiding principles to get idea of how new hires feel about working in a PLC. The primary purpose of the PLC is to refine, strengthen, and expand the competence of the teachers by working together to share their expertise and knowledge that could enhance others skills. Each teacher of the PLC is accountable for the success and failure of students; therefore teachers have to strengthen themselves to ensure failure does not take place. The third principle is to ensure teachers are engaging, challenging themselves, keeping commitments, collaborating, and communicating effectively to build a strong rapport amongst other teachers and
