Professional Athletes Get Paid Essay

Professional athletes get paid millions of dollars to play a game. Do you think they really deserve that much money for tossing a ball around? The money that pays the athletes for a game we all play competitively can be used for someone who actually shapes the future and fights for our country.
For instance, Floyd Mayweather is the top paid athlete in the world for boxing, earning a total of three hundred million dollars. Imagine this: you are in the military force, you risk your life on a day-to-day basis for our country's freedom. If you survive fighting, you sleep on an uncomfortable, rock hard bed and eat nauseating food. You work your tail off, yet you actually make less than the average American does yearly. Now, take into perspective, perhaps a professional boxer: they may risk their lives, but it's for our entertainment, not for our safety. When they are done wrestling, they go back to their five star hotels and eat gourmet food. They train, and yes, they may have worked hard to get to where they are, but they're out here making millions per fight, which is way more than what the average American makes. Look closer, should an entertainer really get paid such a profound amount for one fight, rather than those who work to…

Imagine spending hours and hours a week working as hard as you can at a very hard task and getting almost nothing in return. This is what college athletes go through when they voluntarily play for their school. More of their time is spent on their sport per week than on education. Some of the college sports require very hard mental and physical work that could possibly result in a future career. Also collegiate sport organizations have millions to even billions of dollars that could be spared for the players that help keep it going. This is why I think college athletes should receive compensation for their skills. It would help the players continue on in life if they don't proceed of career in being a professional athlete and they work too hard to not get paid.…

On the other hand, there are some reasons on why they shouldn’t get paid. The problem with paying the athletes is would all the athletes be paid the same? If so it would be unfair for players that don’t show up on national television is getting paid the same amount as an athlete competing with 33 million people watching them. Also, they shouldn’t be paid if they are on a athletic scholarship. If players think they’re good enough to be paid then they can make it to the professionals.…

College athletes getting paid is a big issue because it leads to many question on if they do get paid or don’t. If college athletes got paid they would have to deal with how much they should get paid and who gets paid the most. But many that say they should get paid is because they raise a lot of money for their schools and Tv programs. They also say they should because they don’t have enough money to afford food and things they need. I agree they do need extra money but everybody thats in college are not athletes.…

Does $5.15 million per year sound like a lot? Yes, this is an average NBA basketball players annually wage. This may sound like a lot of money but many people say the military should make this much too. This is not possible. Our military gets paid from tax income of the country. The United States gets $3.7 trillion in income tax. If you divided that among all the soldiers and pay them what pros get paid, this is how much it would be. It would be 7.8063324e+12, that's a lot. My main three reasons for thinking pros should get paid more than soldiers are not enough money, just as much training, and they get paid from different sources. Athletes get paid from millions of fans ,and military gets paid from the United States defense budget.…

A common American dream that is becoming more and more popular is the fantasy of playing collegiate and possibly professional sports. Today’s youth dream of being the best there ever was to play the game, and dedicate hours on hours to achieve that goal. Dedication of time is what gives this dream a chance. College athletes spend multiple hours a day practicing, whether it be actual practice or spending time in the weight room to be physically prepared for the season. If one is very serious about becoming the best athlete he can possibly be, working to be the best becomes a job, in essence. College athletes work tremendously hard and they deserve endless respect. With that being said I do not think that college athletes should receive money from their school, but I absolutely…

But not if they are a college athlete because they don't get paid. Even though their school made a lot of money off their blood, sweat, and tears they still don't get paid one penny. There is no doubt that college athletes should be paid. They should be paid because they work hard and put their bodies on the line, they would make college sports more competitive, and they also bring in hundreds of millions of dollars.…
