Procrastination

The subject that I have chosen to do my public speaking on is procrastination. In my opinion procrastination is something a lot of people, including myself, deal with. I constantly find myself putting off absolutely everything until the last moment. I am here today to convince you that procrastination is a bad habit that you should avoid developing. The main points that I will be talking about are why we procrastinate, what you can do to stop procrastinating and why it is a bad idea to procrastinate. I will now move on to my first point.
A question I’m sure a lot of people ask themselves is why we are so inclined to procrastinate. There are many reasons why someone might want to procrastinate. You could have a fear of failing so you would want to put it off, you could be a perfectionist so you could be constantly waiting for the perfect moment to work or you could just be lazy. Either way, none of those excuses are sound reasons to procrastinate. Sometimes you don’t know where to start or you don’t want to have to do the annoying task because it won’t be pleasant. One of the worst things about procrastinating is the fact that you constantly have that unpleasant task hanging over your head, preventing you from truly enjoying yourself. Is it really worth it to put off your task and worry about it? This brings me to my second point, what you can do to stop procrastinating.
Here are a few ways that you can overcome procrastination. Plan out your tasks, separate them into chunks that seem easier, plan out your time effectively so that you can accomplish your goals better. Think about what you need to do. One of the main reasons that you procrastinate is because you don’t think that the situation is perfect. You keep waiting for the right time to complete your task. It is important to realize that it is almost always an acceptable time to do your work, so you may as well get it done. A good strategy to have if you are procrastinating is to use things that you enjoy as a reward. If there is a party this weekend that you want to go to, but have a big assignment due the next day, tell yourself that you can’t go to the party without completing the assignment. It is easy to motivate yourself to stop procrastinating and I’m sure that there are many ways that you can convince yourself to work.
I’m now going to tell you about my third point, why you shouldn’t procrastinate. Procrastinating is a very addictive habit that comes naturally to most people. It is important to take steps to avoid falling into the habit of putting things off because eventually you won’t be able to anymore. If you fall into the habit of doing your homework as soon as you get home, you can have the rest of the day off to do whatever you want. In my opinion that option seems a lot better than worrying about it all night while you do something else that is probably not as important. Procrastinating stops you from truly enjoying what you are doing by hanging a task over your head and making you worry about it all the time.
Finally, I believe that procrastination is not a good habit to develop. There are many different methods and strategies that you can use to overcome your procrastination. Once you finish the task that you were avoiding, you will feel so much better and will truly be able to relax without worrying. Procrastination is not a good way to handle your tasks and you are better off completing it when you should versus when you want to. It’s important to realize that you are procrastinating in an unreasonable way and that you need to make a plan to stop it. I hope this speech has helped you to realize if you are procrastinating and help you better understand to stop yourself from doing it.

I’ve overcome procrastination because instead of staying on the couch and not doing the dishes I stand and actually do them, and to be honest it felt good because I don’t have to do it later like the author said in the article because it's worse in our future because the dishes might pile up even more or you can get in trouble for not getting up and doing it right away overall I think I have overcome procrastination so far. What helped be successful on facing procrastination is actually wanting on doing it and there's not wanting to get in trouble. Procrastination is what drives people from their work, study, and even determination. Focus is what is needed in everyday lives, and though it is tempting to "delay" what is needed to be done, no excuse is worth it so instead of just “delaying it” just do…

Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is hard for me to stop procrastinating. I believe I do my best writing at the last minute. I usually wait until the night before to do most of it. I am usually up late the night before the paper is due. Having things due dates has kept me on task, and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your result will be. That was my mistake with the argumentative paper.…

The problem I would like to resolve in my daily life is procrastination. I am a chronic procrastinator and I seem to look for inventive ways to avoid completing some tasks. The practice of procrastination has been the cause of an abundance of stress that is unnecessary. For example, I was having difficulty starting this paper but had a plan to start as soon as I returned home from the store. I ran into a friend while shopping, and found myself in a conversation for quite some time. Rather than explaining to my friend that I had a paper due and needed to keep to my schedule, I extended the conversation in order to put off the task.…

Most of the time procrastination isn’t always a bad thing. It could be good if you use your time wisely and think of good ideas. But on the other hand, it could be bad because, if you just sit around and do absolutely nothing. If you manage your time carefully, you would get done a lot faster and easier. As said in sentence 8, “Dr. Perry generously acknowledges that he has stood on the shoulders of iants, in particular Robert Benchley , the Algonquin Round Table Member. In 1930, Benchley revealed how he mustered the willpower to pore through scientific magazines and build a bookshelf when an article was due.”…
