How to have a successful outdoor camping excursion.

Whether you’re the natural outdoor thrill seeker or just the friend being pulled out of his mundane lifestyle, chances are you will go on a camping excursion once in your lifetime. This is a time to leave your smartphones off, hit the road, and explore all of nature that your little outdoor heart can handle. When planning your trip you will want to consider these questions, first, where you will be going? Second, What should you take and leave behind? And third, How to plan to make the most of your time away from home? Considering these topics will not only make for a more memorable trip, but will promise being prepared for a great adventure!

When planning your outdoor excursion you will first need to figure out where you will be going. There are numerous places to camp and countless campsites. However, depending on the popularity of the place, you may need to book well in advance. Places like Yosemite National Park tend to get very busy during the summer, so it is highly recommended to book a year to 6 months in advance. There are site fees and regulations that vary from campground to campground. Look at the camps’ websites and ask for availability, and find out what the fees to camp are. Also, consider what kind of person you are. Do you like to go hiking? Do you rock climb? Are you a mere stargazer? Are you into Trail running? Or are you a Mountain Biker? Narrowing it down will help you in deciding where the best place would be to enjoy your outdoor getaway. This can be the most crucial part of the trip. Don’t make it a nightmare and get as much input about the place you wish to visit. Some campgrounds offer water, bathrooms, and hot showers. This may be what you’re looking for or may be what you’re trying to avoid. Anyway, ponder these things and decide on what would be the most suitable place for your trip.

Next, make a list of all the things you think you

The campsites given to campers are typically very small rocky areas surrounded by small mesquite trees. Most campsites provide water that is available for use ,but should not be drank, as well as a small fire ring for campfires. The park does not provide firewood and thus campers must search for their own on the grounds throughout the park. It is also home to many cedar trees so those of us with allergies need to be sure to bring some medicine so our communion with nature doesn’t become a case of the sniffles.…

The ride from Cool, CA to Loon Lake was a very curvy and exceptionally scenic drive. Pine trees lined the road along with evidence of the misfortunate wildfires Northern California experienced this summer. The road took us right up to the lake and its surrounding land forms. There were many small island like land forms scattered all over the lake, a paradise for fishermen and kayaker's alike. There were huge slabs of granite all over the area which made it a little difficult to walk around the perimeter of the lake; and lead us to take the more scenic heavily wooded route. We stopped many times for Glenn to do what he does best and take professional pictures of the surrounding area and of the lake itself. While walking around we found multiple fire pits made of granite with benches and chairs made of the same. It was a system of hiker made camp sites all around the surrounding area of the lake and was amazing to see. One site in particular I liked and plan on using was a site set up right on the edge of a peninsula. There was a calming sound of the water lapping on the edge of the peninsula, and an amazing scenery of the mountains in the background. I wasn't surprised, however, at the perfect location of each camp site because they were built by backpackers and true nature…

Every wise man or woman to walk on the face of this Earth has known that there is a balance in the universe. For every good, there is an evil; for every virtue, a vice. For every dollar earned, there is a dollar spent, and for every moment spent working, the reward for that work becomes all the greater. However, if you are like me, you: a) believe that you must have done something terrible in a past life to have had to endure a punishment as brutal as George W. Bush's presidency and b) have fallen into the most basic trap of humanity, thinking that there must be a shortcut to success, at least in high school. So, if your thirst for high achievement is matched in strength only by your allergy to textbooks, join me as we attempt to break the rules of science and logic by trying to ace tests while becoming kings and queens of not studying.…

Camping and being in the outdoors has been a significant part of my life for the last eight years. As a child, I never enjoyed it much. Three years ago, my family along with four other families decided to take a trip to Glacier National Park. The sky-piercing mountains and the beautiful lakes urged me to explore the outdoors more. From hiking through the mountainous trails to driving up the mountains through the Going-to-the-Sun road, I finally began to realize the relief and soothing sense that nature had to offer. Despite the love I finally found in the outdoors, I was never the dedicated and…
