Problems with Tricare

Problems with Tricare We are running into problems due to the fact that Tricare the military’s insurance company recently changed and they are giving out the wrong information. Tricare is where attention to detail is very important; however, the new employee’s are not following the guidelines. More research is required on our part to make sure the Tricare office does the proper research as well. Reading is one of the dominant metaphors for understanding organizations, which is a key factor if Tricare is to be successful. Tricare is running into problems because there is not enough research being done, the new employees are not paying attention to detail and the lack of the two entities not communicating with one another. The problem Tricare is running into is evident in most cases; it requires research on the employee’s part to log on to the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System also referred to as DEERS. DEERS has always been a problem as soldiers and their family members come to the hospital thinking that DEERS has been updated, trying to make appointments, and we have to turn them away until they go to the DEERS office, and make sure they gave the proper paperwork so they can be seen. My job also requires me to do research on all appointments for the upcoming day. Patient Categories are another area where the soldiers and family members are in our data system with the wrong Patient Categories or (PATCAT), so the research for this is to check the DEERS website, locate the soldier and family members making sure the information that comes up has the right PATCAT. I have the authority to change the incorrect information; however, if the family is enrolled in certain programs within the system, that requires a work order to be implemented to correct the wrong information. “Crystal balls are notoriously unreliable. Nobody knows what Tricare will be like

The one of the macro problems Wengart Aircraft is having is that they are the second largest company in the industry but are only ranked sixth in profitability (Brown, 2011). Wengart gets a large amount of contracts but they are spending a lot of money reworking most of the aircrafts after they come off of the production line. Another problem is the quality of their aircrafts is in question with the Secretary of Defense and other private customers. The Secretary of Defense has gone as far to say if there is not an improvement in quality they will start holding portions of their payments as penalties. This would not be good because Wengart is already struggling to make profits due to the poor quality of work. In order to fix these problems Ralph Larsen the president of Wengart has brought in an organization development practitioner to help him understand the TQM that the Department of Defense wants him to implement. This leads to the biggest problem Wengart is facing because after the practitioner makes his points, Larsen thinks that the TQM is common sense and that Wengart is already doing most of the points. Larsen than calls a meeting of his vice presidents and put Kent Kelly in charge of the program, even after one of the vice presidents suggested Larsen be in charge of the program because the TQM should be a joint project meaning the human resources and production departments work together. Larsen however did not feel that he had the time to be in charge of the program because he wanted to concentrate his efforts to increasing profits. After the meeting Kelly sends a memo to Allan Yoshida explaining the TQM program, with that information Yoshida calls a meeting of manager and line supervisors to give them the details of the TQM program. Yoshida than went and email all employees an outline of the TQM plan and told them to ask their managers or supervisor for more details if they had questions. After that rumors began to…

    Tricare Health Plans

TRICARE Health Plans is the replacement for CHAMPUS which was the provider of health care services for military dependents. TRICARE not only replaced CHAMPUS but its purpose was also to facilitate members with access to better health care. Unfortunately, TRICARE has gone through many changes and upheavals since its inception in 1997. First, they began by dividing the company into regions. Each member was placed into a region based on where the military member was stationed. If the member was stationed in Maryland then his family belonged to the East Region. Unfortunately, there were many problems with this plan. First, some military members and their families did not live in the same regions. Therefore, the families either had to travel long distances for care or had to fight for an out of region referral. Next, if the member and their family were in the process of moving from one duty station to another, they were in limbo. They still belonged to the original region and would not be transferred until the member was input into the new duty station 's database. This caused problems as it was virtually impossible for members to acquire a referral for emergency care during their move.…

As you may well know, Admission and Registration is probably the most important department and is the first line of defense against this pressing issue. Properly documenting critical patient data, such as insurance information can literally save a considerable amount of money as well as ensure a faster payment. In an effort to reduce employee errors involving insurance changes during this phase of the process, an increased amount of training classes will be conducted that would explain in full detail about what the procedures are for checking in a patient and a special session that focuses on proper insurance data collecting. In addition to this, a staff member suggested that a full time individual be utilized on a 24 hour basis. The full time clerk will be responsible for the inspection of all other employees’ paperwork to catch any discrepancies that might occur. According to Brown, J. (July 2000), “Manual Claim Reviews including utilization and medical reviews are conducted by trained specialists. Staff…

    Metric Division Case

The Metric Division is a division that is currently undergoing significant change within an organization. They have recently reorganized, and are now responsible for an entire product line. Top management has been in place for five months and is now seeking ways to improve the working relationships within the division. Don, the national sales manager, feels that it would be very informative if all the staff members were interviewed to determine what could be done to help them work more effectively. To gather this information they have hired an OD consultant (me) to conduct the research and help them develop solutions to any problems that the division might be facing. To go about obtaining the needed information to conduct an analysis on the division, an action research model was used. Don was the one who was the problem identifier, and felt that the division could work better together. I am the OD practitioner that will help the division obtain this information. I will do this by gathering data, from the interviews with staff members. After the data is gathered a feedback session will be held with everyone to talk about the results, here the group and I can develop a joint diagnosis of any problems that were found. From there we can go on to develop a joint plan of action to fix the problems and improve on the current divisions working relationships. Then the action to fix the problems is implemented into the division, which can be assessed at a future date to see if it is making a difference by interviewing the staff after the changes have been put in place. This is one of the many models that can be used to access companies and determine how leadership and follower relationships can be improved.…
