Problem Solving and Public Service Announcement
What is HOSA?
HOSA is a professional program with many events that you can pick from. Each event is a competition. You pick an event that you would do well in and then you follow the HOSA’s strict guidelines and create what you have to do for that specific event. Then you go and compete against other schools that did the same event.
Competition #1
An event that I was looking at is Public Service Announcement. For this event you have to educate the public on a health problem. You have to make a video of us talking about our certain event and how we educated the topic. You have to do a lot of research so you know everything about your topic when you present and make a video.
Competition #2
The next event I looked at was creative problem solving. Personally, I am not the best at critical thinking skills or problem solving skills, but if I actually attempted it I m sure I could. This even allows you to have 1-3 people. This event also has many different rounds. Round one requires you to take a test, and then if you pass the test or test high you move onto the second round. The second round is where you are given a problem to solve in thirty minutes. When you are all done solving your problem you have ten minutes to present your solution. Considering I am not a good test taker I think I’m going pass up this event.

Competition #3
The last event I considered is Nurse assistant. The purpose of this event is to provide students with a chance to develop the knowledge and skills of a nursing assistant. The first step to this competition is a multiple choice test. To get to the second round you are required to pass the test. You will also be required to do hands on skills, and you are judged on your skills. This competition would help me to become familiar with the usual hands on skills all nurses are required to know.

My Event
I’m going to do public service announcement again with Gabrielle, Kayla, Shelby, and Caitlyn. Our topic for this year will be

After the questionnaires were evaluated, Almost the people who were in it enjoyed themselves and the event was successful. However, due to this success, there was a negative mind to this. From this, we knew that there are some things that we would have thought about during the event. We did many minute meetings such as talking about the materials that we need, also last minute items that we need before the event etc. This can help us to know on what we needed for the event to be successful.…

When preparing a presentation first the topic needs to be decided on and researched. The event was successful, however I feel the Society can increase student patiicipation significantly. I believe tangible prize in conjunction with the gold, silver, and platinum status awards will increase student pmiicipation. For example students reaching platinum status receives at-shirt; students reaching gold status receives a key chain; and students reaching silver status receives a logo pen or pencil. The Society can use sponsorship funds to purchase the prizes. I believe the prize expense is insignificant compared to the additional student participation resulting in our ultimate goal to increase donations to support our funy friends in our…

The basketball tournaments is the staff versus the guests. The best game I’ve seen was when it was the guests down by 4 to the staff with 16 seconds left it got down to 10 seconds left, one of the guests makes a 3 then we steal the ball from the staff of the guests gets dunk for the win with 2 seconds left and we won it, was straight out of a movie but it was amazing to see. But the best part is the sand-sculpture contest. Every year about 50 people go down to the beach for about 2 hours and try to make the best sand-sculpture possible, the winner gets a free milkshake at the shop. One of the best winning sculptures was beautiful the guy who made it his name was Josh Lyon so he made a big lion about his size then laid next to it for the picture. My 3 friends and I also participated, we made a sculpture of a volcano and wet sand as the lava although we got didn’t we get 1st place we still got 3rd and it was a blast making it with them and hanging out on the beach for 3 hours.…

The program specific learning opportunity that I attended was the CONHCP Health Care Professional Panel. Although it was advertised that athletic trainers, health care administration professionals, and nursing professionals would speak at the event, only nursing experts were present. If there were more healthcare professionals available, information relating to the medical field would be more variated. Regardless of the limited number of experts, the nursing experts strived to operate the event to the best of their abilities. A liaison spoke about the general academic pathway that a nursing student must take to eventually achieve the position of a nurse. In addition, two level 3 nursing students explained about the content of clinical courses in depth and their own experiences that they have gained throughout their years in the nursing program. The main objectives of this event were to provide valuable information about the nursing program and to enlighten pre-nursing…
