Probation In Prisons
Probation should be given to offenders that are not a threat to society and incarcerations is not an appropriate punishment. Probation is used to stop overcrowding and spending in prisons, the average daily cost in 2008 for keeping an inmate in prison is $78.95, while supervising a probationer was $3.42. Having probation does save money but only if the probationer is assisted and provided with supervision and rehabilitation but most people in prison are probation violators.
