Privately Funded Scholarship Essay
I have recently completed my first semester of college and I am now entering into my second semester. College wasn’t as difficult as I originally thought it was going to be. I thought college was going to be one of the hardest obstacles that I was going to have to overcome in my entire life. “Why?” you may ask, because even though it’s not impossible, it’s certainly very hard to succeed in life without a postsecondary education. On that note, I would like to say that I don’t want my future career to be dependant on the “chance” that I will be successful and achieve my goals in life without a college education. I would also like to proclaim that I know that as long as I stay focused I know that I can certainly make good grades. Although even …show more content…

I am 115 miles away from home with little to no financial support from family. Yes I can try to find a job while attending school but that still won’t be enough. Another reason why I need The Privately Funded Scholarship (s) is due to the fact that my eldest brother is currently Attending the University of Central Arkansas and my parents are having to financially support both of us while still maintaining their everyday lives.
The fact of the matter is this, I’m not a kid anymore and the adult world is knocking on my door weather i’m ready or not. Which is why I am applying for Privately Funded Scholarships. If I am able to earn these scholarships then I won’t have to be so financially dependent of my parents. I will finally be able to proclaim that I am taking financial responsibility of my education. In conclusion, a privately funded scholarship will enrich my ASU experience because it will bring me a peace of mind to know that I can afford to attend college and continue to build on my future without going into crippling

In 2012, we came to Salt Lake City, Utah. The school I did was from 9th grade. After resettlement in the United States, my parents are still struggling to look after the educational future of me and my sisters. My family said if I could find a way to pay for college. I began to apply for many scholarships, which would help to fulfill my dream and desire.…

Today, many students like myself all over the America have walked down the hectic aisles of high school and have sat in some of the largest lecture halls in college. As kids, we were somewhat taught that going to school and getting an education would be the key to our success and thought that if we didn’t fulfill these expectations, we would end up homeless and live a terrible life. For so many years during my educational career this was the mentality that I believed in. Although this may be over exaggerated, I believe that this may hold some truth to the many college students all over the world. It is almost like we volunteer to go into debt and deal with all the stress that a college education brings us because we feel like it will get us…

Aside from the inspiring role models I gratefully have and the never-ending encouragement my family provides me with, my personal motivation for proceeding onto college are countless. Some of the larger reasons why I choose to go to college are because I see that college offers a variety of opportunities that is not offered anywhere else. For instance, college offers courses that will further one’s experience in a certain field, preparing one for the real world before one can successfully thrive in the fast-paced and volatile world. Not only will I obtain and expose myself to “the tough stuff,” which includes countless demanding college courses, I am also building a stronger profile of myself with the challenging classes I will partake for professionals who will review my resume when I apply for a job or go to a job interview (Graff 225). Going to college will allow me to be an independent individual because it will be essential for me learn how to make a living on my own. I will no longer have my parents or siblings to help and look out for me anymore. I am required to take control of my life and basically learn how to survive on my own. My college education will be highly beneficial because obtaining a college degree and/or a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) will open more doors for me considering that the fact that some employers “do not even interview applicants who do not hold a B.A.” (Graff 233). Therefore, I will have an advantage over those who do not have a B.A. Many may argue that there have been successful stories that did not involve a college education, however the chances of that are very low. Furthermore, my desire to be influenced by a new and diverse group of people leads me to go to college. I wish to be influenced by more and intelligent people who hold perceptions contrary to mine, so I can…

They have pulled me into their world, and have left me with no desire to leave. My experience with Camp Winnataska has left me with an urge to teach, as well. Being a leader there for the past two summers to come has shown me the joy that kids bring and how doing for others ultimately does more for yourself than you could imagine. Being able to influence them and spread to them the joy I have in my life has made an impact on my character, like no other. The Bulk Office Supply scholarship will give me the opportunity to prepare myself with the educational level needed to pursue my career of choice and to be able to reach out to the lives of the youth. Although general scholarships have already been applied to me, they only reduce the out-of-state amount. The in-state-tuition remains for me to pay off. Mississippi State holds a number of extra activities that I plan to be apart of. These include, but are not limited to, the student association, greek panhellenic, and the baptist student union. My parents have placed the responsibility of a handful of college finances in my hands and have left it up to me to find the means to pay them…

I have always had the dream of attending college to better my future and to also fulfill my mom's dreams for me to break free of our small town and make something of myself. Unfortunately, my family is not in a good financial position to help me pay for college, so I am on my own when it comes to supporting my college career. I know my mom wants to help me pay for college, but she is my family's main source of financial support and I have two younger siblings living in the house also, so I could not possibly ask her to help me pay for my expenses. My parents are not together anymore, so my mom pays for all my essentials, but I do have a summer job lifeguarding at the Butler Aquatic Center. I will have a job this fall to pay for my tuition, but I know that that source of income alone will not pay for all my expenses, so I would love to obtain as many scholarships as possible to prevent myself from having to get a ton of student loans. Receiving even the smallest scholarship would help me lessen some of the stress that I have at the moment. A scholarship would also benefit me because I will have the ability to show my mom that I can afford to chase my dreams and take away some of the feelings of sadness that she has for not being able to help me support me. I also want to be able to say that I did all of this on my own and show my family that I can be independent. I want to be able to feel the sense of satisfaction and pride that I supported my college career and I'm the one that created my success, not someone else. All I have ever wanted in life is to show my mom that she raised a strong, independent woman who grew up to succeed in life and went somewhere in life.…
