The Person Who Impacted My Life the Most

The person who impacted my life the most would be my older sister. She has taught me to be patient with other people, she got me doing races, and she helps me with my problems.

The first reason my sister impacted my life the most is that she taught me to be patient with other people. She is a counselor at a school and she can be super patient. I would snap at my brother and sister easily but now it takes a lot for me to snap at someone. She would be the first person to correct my mistakes and rein my temper in.

She also got me doing races, which can be fun. We both do between 2 and 5 races a year for fun. Before I only did cross-country then over the summer I would get lazy so my sister would sign me up for a race or end up finding one and telling me about it to get me ready. She would usually do a longer race than me, but She would push me along if I got too slow or stopped running.

My sister would help me with my problems if I needed someone to talk to. I would usually lock myself in a room and read a book or listen to music if I wasn’t feeling well or angry with someone. She would always help me through a tough time.

These are some reasons why my sister impacted my life the most. She has taught me patience; she has, me doing races. And she always has my back during tough times. If I didn’t have my older sister I would be in la-la land most of the time.

A person who has had a significant influence on me in my life would have to be my former foster mother, Miss Barbara Pratt. Ms. Pratt was a foster mother to many children before myself and she had had wonderful success with most of them. I had been in an extremely abusive relatives home before I had been placed in Ms. Pratt’s home. When it was discovered that I was in an abusive home I was first placed in a group home in Cincinnati. Social Services worked very hard to find me a home that would help me adjust to a ‘normal’ life as quickly and easily as possible. They found the home my older sister had been placed in, they contacted Ms. Pratt and I was placed in her care.…

Fortunately my mom was a smart woman and she divorced my dad.…

First, she is supportive because when our mother passed, I was living an apartment with her and caring for her until her death. I couldn’t go on living there after she had past. I was very sad and emotional wreck. I couldn’t concentrate on work or pay the bills. My sister stepped in and moved my kids and I in with her. I became very depressed after my Mom death. I didn’t know what was going on with me or what to do with myself. My sister was there for me again to advise and support me. She had lost her husband about 5 years prior to us losing our Mom. My sister leaving was the worst thing that had happened to my family. I have a very close family, we talk to each other about everything, and if one of us is upset we’re all there to help. My whole family was devastated to hear she was leaving but we all stuck together and helped each other. My family knew me and my sister were close and they did everything they could possibly do in order to try and make me feel better, and they always made sure I never felt alone through the process. Throughout the journey of my sister being gone me, my parents, and little brother became even closer than we were, because we all helped each other, and always stuck together throughout the hard times. This has influenced my development by making me realize if I’m ever in trouble or just need someone my family will be there for me. This has helped my family grow as one and made us realize we might not always be together physically but no matter what we will always be together mentally in our hearts. It taught me what family really means and I hope one day I have a family that is just as helpful, loving and supportive as mine is…

My mother had the greatest impact on me. She was born in Guadalajara Mexico, thus coming from a very strict and obedient family. My mother was strong and passionate and would do anything for the people she cared about. She didn't care about what other people thought of her or what they said either. And she sacrificed herself and her happiness to make my brothers and I happy. We didn't really have a lot of money growing up so when my mom bought us something really expensive, I knew that she was sacrificing money that she could have used for herself but spend it on us in order to make us happy. These sort of selfless actions inspired me to become a helpful and very sociable person, and inspired me to earn good grades so I could get a high paying job and buy my parents the dream house they always wanted right next to mine. She also made me stick up for myself and be more assertive in the things I believed in so that no one could make me feel inferior and I could be as strong and as fearless as her.…

I am sure that I can attribute some of the positive aspects of my life to my older sister Mireya. I was living in Mexico at my mother’s house with the whole family except my dad. They got split and my dad came to United States to live. Then were all responsibilities for my oldest sister and my mom. My sister Mireya had a very clear mind of what she wanted in life at a very early age. Being the oldest sister of seven and with an absence of our father, taking the control was not an easy task. I admire her hard work starting from the age of sixteen; she was an Accounting student which is very demanding. She had to work at a full time job while going to school. And she had to look over myself and my younger brothers. I really can see that my sister Mireya was a big influence in my life, and I appreciate her much more now that I am an adult. Inner harmony, spirituality and faith, for my family are the resolution of the “meaning of life”. I remember that every Sunday morning, I would get ready to go with her to church. When it came to determine what is what is important in the big picture, relationships with brothers and my mother, became the most important thing for my older sister. “When you are listening you are day dreaming”, that is what my oldest sister used to tell me. With the absence of my father, my sister had to take his role, and spent much of the time scolding and disciplining us; because of this we resented her. Discipline was her main task as the oldest sister. I remember that she left us a list of chores to take care of on Saturday morning, and then after she came back from work, she wanted everything done that she had asked us to do. She was very stricter with all of us punishing and hitting us with a belt. But I am going to remember all of her teaching and good example with all my love, because I know that she did it with all her…

I have never looked up to, nor have I had to deal with, anyone more in my life than my sister. Growing up, we spent a lot of time together. From the moment I was born pretty much I was attached at her hip whether she wanted me there or not - I played with games and toys with her; I looked up to her; I respected her; she taught me next to everything about the world that I knew back when I was a kid, before I started school and growing up more on my own. Once I got to the point of having the ability to actually find myself and craft an identity, she had also been going through such a stage, a bit farther along than I was due to her being older. She was my guiding force in the building of my identity.…
