Priests Prophet and Kings Essay

Priests, Prophets and Kings Reflection God has called us all to be priests, prophets and kings. In this essay, I will explain what our mission is as each. I will also give examples on how to do this. Being priests, prophets and kings will make us closer to God and help us be holy. Priests are ordained men who say mass and give penance. But did you know that we are also called to be priests? Yes, we too share in the priestly mission! As priests, we are called to act like Christ. We can do this by following the Ten Commandments in order to stay holy like Christ. Priests are also called to make spiritual sacrifices. We can do this by giving up our time to pray or go to mass. The last thing that priests do is help others strive for holiness. I can do this by encouraging others to participate in mass or set a good example for others.
Prophets are God’s messengers. One of our job as messengers is to speak for God. We can do this by telling people what we believe and encouraging constructive discussion. Our second job as prophets is to witness to the truth. We can be a witness by being holy Catholics and showing others what God is saying by the truth. Our third job is to remind others to persevere faith. We can do this by offering encouragement for someone who is getting made fun of because of their beliefs.
Kings are great rulers, but not in the sense that this essay is talking about. Kings have the job of seeking to serve for God. We can do this by offering up our gift of leadership and everything we do with that leadership to God. Our second job is to use power for the good of people. Instead of being a dictator-like leader, we can get the input of others for our leadership. We can make decisions for the good of the group instead of ourselves. God has called us for these three roles. They may not be easy but it is our duty to do them. If we do these things, we are sure to be holy. This is our mission and we should do it with pride because we are serving God.
