After watching The Village and reading “By the waters of Babylon” and “The Walking Dead” it is obvious that their society became a victim of itself and that using fear to control people is not acceptable. In the stories, there were many similarities such as all the main characters went to places that were forbidden, an apocalypse occurs in all 3 stories, and finally they discover the real world. Some differences between the stories are they had different disabilities and one of them were not injured at all, The Village had bad things occur as a consequence because of the choices they made, and in “By the waters of Babylon” nothing bad happen to John, each one of the characters handled these problems in different ways.
In the stories, there were many similarities such as all the characters went to the places that were forbidden. Ivy wasn’t supposed to go into the woods, but she did anyway so she could save lucious because she loved him. In “By the waters of Babylon” John saw the place of the gods and he began to go inside, he thought it was forbidden. “The north and the west and the south are good hunting ground, but it is forbidden to go east”-john page 43. Another resemblance between the stories is some type of apocalypse occurs. In the “Walking Dead” a zombie apocalypse happens while rick was in a comma. In “By the waters of Babylon” a technology apocalypse occurs. While watching The Village it was seen that a moral apocalypse transpires. These 3 stories also share that they find the “real-world”. While watching The Village you will see once Ivy goes on her venture to get medicine for lucious she had to cross the wall. Once she crosses the wall she meets the park ranger and she discovers the new world the world of technology and medicine. In the “Walking Dead” once Rick wakes from his comma he finds
